Me and DH both love Florence but the only nicknames I can think of are putting me off. Is there any others apart from Flo or Floss/ Flossie...

Much beloved neighbour of ours always known very affectionately as Florrie. There's Flora too. Fleur maybe?

GinIsIn · 13/12/2016 23:18

Florrie, flora, Laurie, Lolly.

reindeerbitesback · 13/12/2016 23:35

My name is Fleur, I was called both Effy and Fleurie growing up - either of which could be used as a nn for Florence.

Sophronia · 13/12/2016 23:41

Florrie
Flora
Wren
Fifi
Lori

dailymaillazyjournos · 13/12/2016 23:47

My Grandma was Florrie.

Effie and Florrie are adorable nickname ideas for Florence. Although I think for a baby, Flossie is ridiculously sweet! Maybe have her grow into Effie/Florrie Wink

Pluto30 · 14/12/2016 00:16

I think avoiding certain nicknames is going to be hard...

Both Florences I know (one in her 80s, the other in her 20s) are Flo.

VixenLupin · 14/12/2016 00:56

Florrie is lovely.

Flozza not so much!

Didactylos · 14/12/2016 01:12

Please not Florrie! How about Florinda?

Why do you need a nickname? Florence is a lovely name that rolls off the tongue very easily.

Many of the mentioned names are really not very nice e.g. Florri, Floss (tooth?) etc. I'd just stick with Florence.

Gruffalosfriend · 14/12/2016 08:37

Florinda is ugly and actually longer than Florence, and Effie sounds like effing. Sorry, but I just don't get the need to choose another name if Florence is so lovely!

17caterpillars1mouse · 14/12/2016 08:38

Florrie and I've heard Flick even though it's more common for Felicity

MilkTwoSugarsThanks · 14/12/2016 08:40

Believe it or not - Fluffy. Confused

Florence is a lovely name. I know one aged 19 and another who is 12 or 13. They are always just called Florence.

ImpYCelyn · 14/12/2016 08:57

I know a Flossie.

WaitrosePigeon · 14/12/2016 08:58

My daughter is a Florence. It hasn't been shortened so far..

Fresta · 14/12/2016 08:59

Florence is such a beautiful name. I would go with any of the nicknames, Flora, Flo or Florrie. Not as keen on floss, it's a bit horsey/dental.

llangennith · 14/12/2016 09:05

Flossie is a really pretty nickname for Florence!

midsomermurderess · 14/12/2016 09:29

I quite like Flossy even if it is a bit Spanielesque.
