Our son is a week old. He's Spanish.

Diego?

It's fatally associated with Maradona for me, I'm afraid. I see footballs when I hear it. Thiago? (Or is that more Portuguese? All the ones I know have Brazilian heritage...)

Hardshoulder · 12/12/2016 18:14

Congratulations, by the way!

pilates · 12/12/2016 18:20

I think of Diego Costa (he plays for Chelsea).

Congratulations, I like it BTW.

MoonDuke · 12/12/2016 18:21

I know a Diego (Argentinian). He's 6 and fab.

Congratulations!

groupteam · 12/12/2016 18:22

Big brother is Mateo. Are they too similar? Thank you!

I think of Diego Luna - mmmm, look him up. I like the name Diego because of him.

Raines100 · 12/12/2016 18:28

Diego is a gorgeous name.

UnicornPee · 12/12/2016 18:32

Go Diego go
(Spin off cartoon of Dora the Explora)

DollyPlastic · 12/12/2016 18:34

I like it but my favourite Spanish boys name is Santiago.

KlingybunFistelvase · 12/12/2016 18:40

I'm not all that keen on it, but it's perfectly nice.

cheesydoesit · 12/12/2016 19:49

I love it and would love to use it but we are a boring English/Irish/Welsh mix and DH thinks it would be naff. I think it's a brilliant name, it gets my vote. Makes me think of Diego Klattenhoff rather than a footballer.

DelphiniumBlue · 12/12/2016 19:56

We know a Diego, nn Diggy, which I rather like.

TeenAndTween · 12/12/2016 19:57

Fine as he's Spanish.

(Ice Age?)

BishopBrennansArse · 12/12/2016 20:01

Not keen but that's personal taste.
I like Lorenzo?

margaritasbythesea · 12/12/2016 20:05

We live in Spain and at the school gates I heard a mum calling for 'santi' the other day ( short for Santiago once) I thought it was really cute.

Not mad keen on Diego.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 12/12/2016 20:06

I know one, he's fab!

puglife1 · 12/12/2016 20:08

Love it! My son is friends with a Diego and he's cool. Haven't used that word for a while!!

danTDM · 12/12/2016 20:14

In my DD's class atm, Borja, Hugo, Josep, Francisco, Marco, Gonzalo, Salva

I like Diego, it's not common here (Valencia)
Xavi on the other hand...

Santi, I agree I also like. Vair common in the posh bits of Madrid!

Sophronia · 12/12/2016 20:41

I love it!

Oysterbabe · 12/12/2016 20:48

I like it :)

Thundercake · 12/12/2016 21:05

I love love love it, wish I'd had a legitimate reason to call my DS Diego but we're not Spanish so would have been a bit affected

ilovetosleep · 12/12/2016 21:20

My fave name, but no Spanish links so can't use it either :(

I love Diego. With Spanish names it's difficult to escape the o ending. I have Mateus with a Thiago and a Lucas, but we're Portuguese speakers. I love Diego though.

iveabigsecret · 13/12/2016 23:23

Fabulous name.

Lovely with Mateo too. I second Santiago if your open to suggestions.

Love the Spanish names. Congratulations x
