Does anyone like this?

I think Rohan best spelling, my daughter (her baby Grin) likes Rowan.

Thoughts?

I prefer Rowan personally.

GruochMacAlpin · 12/12/2016 14:15

I wouldn't pronounce them the same way.

atticusclaw2 · 12/12/2016 14:15

They're completely different names Confused

Rohan is pronounced Row (to rhyme with show) han (to rhyme with pan)

Rowan everyone know how to pronounce due to Rowan Atkinson.

Lots of Rohans at my DS's school.

CarrotCakeMuffins · 12/12/2016 14:17

Boy or girl? I think either are ok for a boy but Rowan only for a girl.
I like Rohan, and they are pronounced the same.

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/12/2016 14:17

I prefer Rowan.

hoolabaybee · 12/12/2016 14:18

I thought that too Carrot

All of the Rohans at my DS's school pronounce Row-han. (Midlands). Two are Indian and one is from Sri Lanka.

ScandiManny · 12/12/2016 14:23

We have a Rowan. People constantly pronounce it 'Row (rhymes with bow) in' like they're dropping the h in rowing. Either that or they over pronounce the an like 'Row-anne' Confused

We do wish we'd gone with Rohan because people seem to struggle less with that. I think Rowan looks nicer written down though.

Bringmewineandcake · 12/12/2016 14:24

I would say Row-han too so if your DD wants the Rowan pronunciation then she's right to spell it Rowan.

MangosteenSoda · 12/12/2016 14:25

Not pronounced the same in my experience.

Rohan: Indian boy's name Ro-han
Rowan: Unisex name Ro-wen

Where do you live?

ScandiManny · 12/12/2016 14:25

I meant to write 'some people' there. It seems to be the same people who just can't seem to get it no matter how many times they try. The vast majority of people are fine with it though.

ScandiManny · 12/12/2016 14:27

Oh fgs. And that h in my first post should be a g. Obviously there is no h in rowing Confused Damn you fat fingers!

Joinourclub · 12/12/2016 14:32

All the Rohan's I have met have been Pakistani and pronounced it Row-Han.
I love the name Rowan and pronounce it Row-un.

Cosmicglitterpug · 12/12/2016 14:33

Rowan

hoolabaybee · 12/12/2016 14:34

We live in Yorkshire so not sure many will pronounce it Ro-Han Grin

But presumably your DGS will not stay in Yorkshire his whole life.
