Today I met a gorgeous little girl named Lilac. I'm wondering what you think of it? I can't stop thinking about the name!

I think its lovely! Ive never heard of anyone called that name but i suppose it does make sense as a name in the same vein as Lavender, Willow or even colour names like Mauve or Cerise.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 12/12/2016 00:18

I like it but sounds too much like Lyla and you'd be forever correcting people.

rexthedog · 12/12/2016 00:19

This was suggested to me for ds. I found it strangely enchanting!

zen1 · 12/12/2016 00:20

I quite like it; it sounds very sweet.

SausageSoda · 12/12/2016 00:22

I think it's lovely in theory but a bit ridiculous in reality. Part of that probably falls down to the fact that I'd never have the guts to call a DC that. Fair play to her parents

HerRoyalNotness · 12/12/2016 00:24

I have it on my list, but it's too many L's with our last name

KoalaDownUnder · 12/12/2016 00:30

I think it would be very difficult to live with. Constantly mistaken for Lila/Lyla/Lilah.

Lunar1 · 12/12/2016 07:30

Lovely for a book character, not for a real life person.

I quite like it, but suspect a lot of people would consider it rather twee.

SpunkyMummy · 12/12/2016 13:13

I really like it. But I also love Lavender, Marigold, Dahlia, Pansy (I know really not possible, nowadays!), Iris and other flower names...

Poptartwish · 12/12/2016 13:14

It's awful Confused

Jooni · 12/12/2016 17:24

It's ok, a bit hippy maybe and I agree that there are so many Lily/Lyla/Leila type names around at the moment that it would probably be misheard quite a lot.

Manumission · 12/12/2016 17:59

Gorgeous!

HeyRoly · 12/12/2016 18:00

It's VERY twee. And I love an unusual flower name.

Lilaclily · 12/12/2016 18:01

Gorgeous Xmas Grin

Manumission · 12/12/2016 18:03

Twee? Really? ALL flower names are about the same on the twee scale, aren't they?

KlingybunFistelvase · 12/12/2016 18:42

I like it!

scrivette · 12/12/2016 18:44

I don't think it is twee at all, I quite like it although it is quite a 'hard' sound which stops it being twee.

Belle89 · 12/12/2016 18:47

I've always wanted Violet for a girl, not so sure about Lilac myself.
I had a boy and named my dog Violet😂 so will be stuck if I do eventually have anymore😂

cecinestpasunepipe · 12/12/2016 18:51

I love it. Had a pet rabbit called Lilac when my dds were small, but always thought the name was too good for a rabbit!

LoveInTokyo · 12/12/2016 20:13

Prefer Lila / Lilah tbh

KatherinaMinola · 12/12/2016 20:21

This was on my list. I love it - I think you do have to have a bit of nerve though. But it is creeping up the popular name charts.

SorenaJ · 13/12/2016 12:39

It's lovely!

keekaw · 13/12/2016 12:41

Awful
