Heidi or Robyn?

DD1 due in February and I think we've (eventually) agreed on 2 names. We love Heidi and Robyn. Cons for Heidi is it doesn't sound as great with our surname (but not a deal breaker) and with Robyn, I'm not a bit fan of y's replacing i's in names but Robin to me as a boys name so we would spell Robyn. Favourite?

Robin! No need to replace the I with a Y
Robin is a lovely name

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 11/12/2016 19:56

They're both gorgeous. I'm surprised Heidi isn't more popular, but. That's a good thing.
I think I'd go for Robyn though with her being due in the winter

Wishfulmakeupping · 11/12/2016 19:57

I like both I would spell with a y though with an I it looks like the male version to me

StarUtopia · 11/12/2016 19:57

No. Robin would be permanently misspelt by every teacher/club going. If you go with Robyn, spell the way it's supposed to be!

Both lovely names.

ScarletForYa · 11/12/2016 19:59

Heidi by a mile.

Robyn is a bit wishy-washy.

Kittenrush · 11/12/2016 20:00

Love the name Robin. Agree that there's no need to replace the I. I hate the name Heidi but that's because a Heidi bullied me mercilessly in school Blush

sj257 · 11/12/2016 20:02

I'm thinking of calling our son Robin. I love it for both boy and girl but think I'd spell it Robyn for a girl. Females I know with the name all spell it with a Y.

talkshowhost97 · 11/12/2016 20:03

Heidi.

AnnetteKertan · 11/12/2016 20:04

Robyn with a y.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 11/12/2016 20:16

I love Robyn. I'd have chosen it for my lite girl, if I'd ever had one!

Heidi is lovely too.

KlingybunFistelvase · 11/12/2016 20:52

Robyn or Robin. I like either spelling. Not mad about Heidi but it's perfectly nice.

ElornaElephant · 11/12/2016 22:08

I love Robyn, would spell it with the Y too because I think it's the natural spelling that immediately comes to mind so less likely to get mistakes. Think the smiley red-haired nurse in Casualty is Robyn!

I really like Heidi too, but always seems like a name for an older child or teenager than a baby?

SpunkyMummy · 11/12/2016 22:12

Robyn.

Not Heidi...! (Imo, obviously)

But Robyn Heidi could be cute?

Allalonenow · 11/12/2016 22:12

Heidi is wonderful.

(But if you do use Robyn spell it with a Y)

1happyhippie · 11/12/2016 22:16

I like them both, but I like Robyn more. I would spell it with a y.

I'm sure I used to watch a TV show in the 80s about a Heidi? Swiss girl I think. That's the only one I know. (Well, I don't know her, but you know what I mean).

Sophronia · 11/12/2016 22:18

Heidi is ok. Robyn is a bit 80s.

Ankleswingers · 11/12/2016 22:20

Robyn is so lovely! I like it best spelt with a y.

SukeyTakeItOffAgain · 11/12/2016 22:21

"A programme in the 80s about a girl called Heidi"?? Grin

That was Heidi, an adaptation of Johanna Spyri's classic novel. A theme tune every child in our primary school could play on the recorder!

Ellieboolou27 · 11/12/2016 22:21

Heidi is lovely and never met one, Robyn ok but quite popular atm, both nice but Heidi is my favourite

n0ne · 11/12/2016 22:25

Heidi!

SausageSoda · 11/12/2016 23:14

If picking between the two - Heidi by a long way.

swimmerforlife · 11/12/2016 23:56

Heidi by a country mile.

onecurrantbun1 · 12/12/2016 00:15

I love them both. Both were on our short list (we picked one of them!)

UnsuccessfullyAdulting · 12/12/2016 00:17

Robyn.

And Heidi.

Oh God. Both are gorgeous. I cannot help you.

Heidi Robyn? misses point

Jw35 · 12/12/2016 01:38

Robyn
