Effie

WellErrr · 06/12/2016 19:37

Short for what?

I know a Hepzibah who gets Effie, I like it.

Angelitron · 06/12/2016 19:39

Effie. I like it but would wimp out and give a sensible name with Effie as a NN.

ScrambledSmegs · 06/12/2016 19:42

Effie is traditionally short for Euphemia, I think, although I know an Iphigenia nn Effie.

I'd normally go with Effie as for some reason Effy looks more like a nickname. But that might be just me as I shorten my full name to a name ending in 'y'.

Bagina · 06/12/2016 19:51

It's a bit Iffy.

Hushabyelullaby · 06/12/2016 19:51

Effie

Nonameyet1 · 06/12/2016 20:03

Effie

MyschoolMyrules · 06/12/2016 20:04

Ds assures me that in the Hunger Games books it Effie!

BingThing · 06/12/2016 20:59

Definitely Effie. Lovely name

aforestgrewandgrew · 06/12/2016 21:01

My grandma was called Effie and I ❤️️ It but I'd worry now that she'd be called Effing.

HainaultViaNewburyPark · 06/12/2016 21:07

Definitely Effie. Effy is too much like Iffy.

PosiePaRumPaPaPumParker · 06/12/2016 21:07

Isn't it Aoife?

DramaAlpaca · 06/12/2016 21:09

Effie doesn't sound like Aoife at all.

Sophronia · 06/12/2016 21:17

Effie

starrynight19 · 06/12/2016 21:18

Effie the other version sounds like a shortened swear word

OpalTree · 06/12/2016 21:20

Effie

SausageSoda · 06/12/2016 22:42

Prefer Effie rather than Effy. Effy looks like it should be a nn

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 06/12/2016 22:46

It's a nickname whichever way you spell it, surely?

Could even be short for Elizabeth at a pinch, but landing a child with Effie / Effy and nothing else is just wrong.

TheCakes · 06/12/2016 22:53

Effie
