I don't watch much TV, so didn't watch this program. Really gutted.

He's 8 months, but no one has really ever said anything. I've had a few "oh, like..." but I've just smiled, thinking "who?" and just got on with my day.

Would you change it?

OnePlanOnHouzz · 04/12/2016 09:36

[read in an Irish accent ] I like it ! Smile

ClashCityRocker · 04/12/2016 09:36

Ah, it's not a big deal OP. There are worse people to be named after (Jimmy Saville being one of them!!)

They're both fairly common names so I doubt it looks like you've purposefully named him after him - unlike young Elvis Aaron I know.

PittstopPenelope · 04/12/2016 09:59

Name changed as this could out me, but my mum went to school with a Teresa Green and my grandmother's maiden name was Florence Nightingale

Artandco · 04/12/2016 10:00

Annie - having seen Louis Walsh is a tv music show presenter why would many people know of him unless they watch that? We don't have a tv so wouldn't have a clue who he was or most tv celebrity's

PaperdollCartoon · 04/12/2016 10:05

He's a judge on X Factor, one of the most watched things on TV for about the last decade, those who don't know who is will be massively in the minority.

Artandco · 04/12/2016 10:20

Paper - but many people don't watch reality tv if any. I don't know anybody who would watch xfactor.

junebirthdaygirl · 04/12/2016 10:44

One of the main Bishops in Ireland is called Michael Jackson but as they are so unlike each other it never really registers that it's the same name.

I wouldn't worry too much about the Louis Walsh thing as Louis, due to his age, won't feature too much in your child's life. It's a nice name actually as fits together well.

Oysterbabe · 04/12/2016 11:24

He was known first for being the manager of Boyzone and Westlife before the x-factor stuff. I would be very surprised to meet someone from the uk of my generation (I'm 35) who hadn't heard of him.
It's not the worst though, I wouldn't change it.

I know a Phil Collins.

Cantgetmyoldnameback · 04/12/2016 11:33

I once went on a training course where they asked you to write your name on a card and place it in front of you, on the first day of the course. As I sat down I saw that the guy next to me had written 'Peter Sutcliffe' on his card. I thought it was some weird serial killer joke for a second, then realised that the unfortunate man really did have the Yorkshire Ripper's name. Must be fairly common I guess.

I don't think Louis Walsh is that bad.

AnnieAnoniMouse · 04/12/2016 11:37

I don't watch it either.

However, I do see newspapers in shops with his name in fuck off sized letters across the front, I do listen to the news, see the news on TV and I do read Mumsnet.

Unless you live in a cave, I fail to see how you couldn't have heard of him if you live in the U.K.

1happyhippie · 04/12/2016 11:37

I dont think louis walsh is bad at all.

I know a Micheal Jackson, and a Jack Black.

I also know an Ian Beale!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 04/12/2016 11:42

I don't watch any soaps so it's quite possible to not know names that millions of others do I suppose. Louis Walsh isn't too bad op.

mudandmayhem01 · 04/12/2016 11:43

2/3 of the the adults in this house didn't know who he was. I am obviously more down with the kids than dh and dm.

Ontopofthesunset · 04/12/2016 12:58

I had heard the name and googling him I recognise him but wouldn't have put the face and name together. I thought he was a judge on some show but I don't watch any of those shows so had a very vague idea.

Ontopofthesunset · 04/12/2016 13:00

Oh, and I really don't live in a cave, and read lots of newspapers and am on social media etc. But I don't watch much TV so I guess I skim over things in papers and mags that are irrelevant to me. Like Louis Walsh - I would have read his name and passed by, seen his picture and passed by.

NataliaOsipova · 04/12/2016 16:19

unless you live in a cave, I fail to see how you couldn't have heard of him if you live in the U.K.

But - Annie - I could say the same about, say, the Governor of the Bank of England....but I bet a random selection of people on the street couldn't tell you his name. It all depends what you read/watch and where your interests lie.

lanbro · 04/12/2016 16:26

I went to school with Elizabeth Taylor and Donna Summers! And David Bailey! My name before I married was the same as a famous American country singer!

It doesn't matter a bit, perfectly normal names and nothing obscure, would be a bit different if he was Justin Bieber or something!

RortyCrankle · 04/12/2016 16:29

I wouldn't worry about it OP. I know of Louis Walsh but have never seen the programme.

I couldn't have children and way past it now so I'm begging someone on here to name their next son Russel Sprout Grin

FurryDogMother · 04/12/2016 16:33

I am a former Canadian Prime Minister and a winner of something canoe-related in the latest Olympics. Doesn't bother me .

HopefulHamster · 04/12/2016 16:41

Don't worry.

I used to have to email a Gary Barlow who worked selling music instrument stuff. Not the same one!

Millionsmom · 04/12/2016 16:44

A certain very famous American singer shares my name. He's a bloke, hey ho.
The first time I'd heard of him was during a music class. Then some of his songs were re released.Hmm

Op, your DS has a lovely name. In a few years time the X Factor bloke will be long gone.

BikeRunSki · 04/12/2016 22:58

Millions have you got the same name as me perhaps ? US Rock singer, with a soft spot for eye make up ? AC?

Shallishanti · 04/12/2016 23:14

I had never heard of this man
the name sounds fine and I'm sure the famous one will be forgotten about in a few years

SilentBob · 04/12/2016 23:27

I think it's fine OP, and I do know who he is despite never watching x-factor.

honeyrider do you have a Marvin Humes?

Millionsmom · 05/12/2016 04:33

Bikerunski
No, he's 'reet petite' 😉 And Dexys had a song about him too, famously - or infamously - when they were on Top of the Pops the set people put up a picture of the Scottish darts player 😂
