Bloody love it.

pennycarbonara · 03/12/2016 16:01

If he grows up to be a geek with lots of geeky mates, he'd be forever saddled with the association of Discworld character Cohen the Barbarian.

BackforGood · 03/12/2016 16:18

Sounds like a surname to me, and i don't like surnames as first names, myself

MiniMaxi · 03/12/2016 16:24

I quite like it but... It's a Jewish surname so if you're not Jewish might be a bit odd?

frenchielala · 03/12/2016 16:29

Massive Jewish surname

RJnomore1 · 03/12/2016 16:32

After Leonard?

Love it.

Foldedtshirt · 03/12/2016 16:33

It's a bit like calling a child Priest or Guru. If it's in tribute to the wonderful Leonard Cohen, then Leo, Leon or Marianne or Suzanne are lovely.

girlelephant · 03/12/2016 16:53

I think of it as a surname

AllotmentyPlenty · 03/12/2016 16:55

Are you Jewish? If so, I think it is quite cute. If not, it might be a bit unusual - like someone non-Asian calling their child Patel.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/12/2016 16:56

No. Unless you are Jewish and even then it would be a bit odd.

passingthrough1 · 03/12/2016 17:19

Yeah it's a surname

BearFoxBear · 03/12/2016 17:21

Love it.

HardcoreLadyType · 03/12/2016 17:24

I really like it, particularly if it's for Leonard Cohen.

SwedishEdith · 03/12/2016 17:33

If it's for Leonard, I'd just go for Leonard and call him Lenny.

BoboBunnyH0p · 03/12/2016 19:21

In my DS year group there are two Cohens and I know another but spelt Coen.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/12/2016 19:48

Coen is a Dutch name.

yeOldeTrout · 03/12/2016 19:51

Bad choice if you don't feel fond of Jewish ethnicity/culture.

I just think it's a bit flat & boring, but my kids have boring names too, tbf!

Pluto30 · 03/12/2016 20:29

Very Jewish.

Dontrocktheboat · 03/12/2016 21:31

Very odd if you are not Jewish (and even if you are as it is a surname).

Sophronia · 03/12/2016 21:37

It's a Jewish surname, and kind of inappropriate to us as a first name

Sophronia · 03/12/2016 21:37

*use

CordeliaFrost · 04/12/2016 18:54

^ Yes to what Sophronia said.

Not simply just a Jewish surname either, rather the most important Jewish surname.

WuTangFlan · 04/12/2016 18:56

Cohen the Barbarian from Terry Pratchett's Discworld.

BratFarrarsPony · 04/12/2016 19:01

it's a surname and it means 'priest' in the Jewish faith.
I think it would be really weird to use it, and I am assuming you are not Jewish, so therefore it would be...hang on.....cultural appropriation
