Is it by as in bye or bee? If the latter I probably wouldn't go for Sylvie as it's practically a rhyme.

Not keen on Laurence at all, even though I know a lovely adult man called Laurence, I still don't like the name,, so it must be a bad name.

Innes is not my cup of tea at all. I like some Scottish names but not that one.

I would go with Jean, because the first names all end with a vowel sound which I think Isobel or Iris would be a bit of a mouthful. I think Eleanor Jean is a great choice.

Out of the boys names I really like Struan (in fact I really like all of them) and think Struan Marcus sounds perfect.

I'm endlessly jealous of anyone with a Claudia. It's my favourite name but doesn't work with my surname. Claudia Iris is pretty.

I know you said you wanted it as a middle name but out of your boys names my favourite is Nicholas so I'd just call him Nicholas Alan

I love Nicholas too but we can't use it as a first name

Claudia Iris was actually my second choice name combo for a girl, so I'm hugely biased towards that! Sylvie is nice too (Sylvia was another contender for us)

As for boys' names, I like Marcus and Innes best. Alan probably flows best with either of those, although I prefer the name Nicholas.
