Definitely David. DH is one and when people call him Dave (often pronounced Dive) it makes my ears shrivel.

You can always use Dave as a nickname

People will assume his full name is David anyway

Because Dave is now a TV channel I definitely wouldn't call him that!

David is a classic, albeit currently somewhat dated, name.

Dave is a name that doesn't do anyone any favours.

David is a great underused name!
