Awww! Good name for a dog-you know this is baby names? I was going to slate it as a choice for a person. Smile

OMG - thank goodness! it's a dog... phew. Was about to rant then.

Though it will become Lassie I think?

Zoopops · 21/11/2016 16:08

Oh Sad not keen on Lassie.

Sorry for giving you a fright! Was considering the kennel topic, but thought as it was a name it would be better here!

Perfect for a puppy, terrible for a person

Budgiebonbon · 21/11/2016 16:14

Thought the name was for a human baby for a moment Grin,
What a lovely little Puppy, they are the cutest little paws.

Wasn't sure at first, but the more I have thought about it the more it grows on me.

Great name for a dog? Other suggestions along the US place names themes that could work for a dog....Boston, Washington, Oregon, Portland, Dakota, Arizona or Indiana.

Normandy144 · 21/11/2016 16:15

Sorry don't know where the question mark came from in my first sentence! I like it.

TwitterQueen1 · 21/11/2016 16:15

OP, imagine you are in a park, or on a beach or a common, and Alaska is old enough to be running around off the lead.

You need to either tell him off for something, or you want him to come to you - what are you going to call? Dog's names beginning with vowels aren't always easy and I'm not sure that Alaska is going to be great in that respect.

Ally? Laskie? 'They' say 2-syllable words are best / easiest.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 21/11/2016 16:28

Dakota (Koko)
Alaska is fine, she is a mega cutie pie !
Female ?

222CherryCoke · 22/11/2016 11:18

Juneau?

PointlessUsername · 22/11/2016 11:21

Nanook (like the dog in the lost boys)

Translates to polar bear.

Elizalou01 · 22/11/2016 17:18

Was about to say what the...then realised it was for a dog. Usually 1 or 2 syllable names are better for dogs preferably with a hard consonant sound.
