Amaya or Clara

We decided on Clara, DH also loves it and today kind of thought about name we were thinking of first which was Amaya though DH was not that fond. Which do you like better? Amaya or Clara?
Love Clara but do think Amaya is also a very sweet name

They're very different styles imo.

I really like Clara and really don't like Amaya.

Clara has been quite fashionable recently and may therefore fall out of favour and start to sound a little dated.

Amaya is beautiful, feminine and sounds very refreshing. I don't know any little Amayas, so I'd definately choose that.

I have a Clara. She is eight now, when I named her Clara was WAY down the lists - I think by now it has made the top hundred. I would still choose it now, but just to let you know!

Definitely Clara - it's a beautiful name. Amaya sounds a little bit.... made up.

Not to add to the confusion, but what about Arabella? Only thought of it as it's got the A sound from Anaya and also the ra sound from Clara!

How would you pronounce Amaya? I only know it as a beautiful and not overused Spanish name.

Clara is very pretty, too.

Amaia (spelt like that) is the number one baby name in the Basque Country (where I live). it's very pretty and is an old name, I believe it's a basque goddess.
