I like it but I have this personal thing against surnames as first names.

But if I try to look past that, it is a nice name.

If you're not in Northern Ireland then I see nothing wrong with it!
Just makes me think of the Nolan show over here though!

I know an adult Nolan and it's never seemed an odd or unusual name. He has spent many hours of his life saying that it's not Roland though. I like it.
