I wanted that for dd, but then my BIL called his son Johann a year earlier, grrr

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 06/11/2016 07:18

Lovely !

CPtart · 06/11/2016 07:49

Lovely in its entirety only. Definitely no nn, no more Ellie's or Ella's needed in the world.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 06/11/2016 09:28

LC01 · 06/11/2016 09:33

Love it. You can't go wrong with a classic name IMO.

shalalala · 06/11/2016 21:41

Thanks everyone! We like Eleanor and not a nn

Eleanor is beautiful

DollopofTrollop · 07/11/2016 09:41

DS9 would have been an Elinor but he has a penis so we thought better of it!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 07/11/2016 09:47

Eleanor is lovely and I agree it's best in full, no shortening needed.

I wanted that for dd, but then my BIL called his son Johann a year earlier, grrr Intrigued by this! What's the connection?

MoonHare · 07/11/2016 09:51

Love it! I have one and she is only ever Eleanor never Ellie.

kittylh · 07/11/2016 11:02

I love Eleanor, hate Ellie. Would shorten to Nell/Nellie myself but I'd be too worried about her being an Ellie eventually!

septembersunshine · 07/11/2016 20:02

I have a ten year old Eleanor and we called her Ella has a nickname before it got really popular. Mainly because my dad was a massive jazz fan and loved Ella Fitzgerald. Anyway, she has never been Ellie but now sometimes uses Elle. It's a very versatile name. Go for it op!

Flowercat16 · 09/11/2016 21:54

I love Eleanor and love Elle, Ellie & Ella.

FaithAscending · 09/11/2016 22:31

I love it. Wanted it for DD but DH had a friend called Ellie and he vetoed it! Sad Beautiful, classic name.

buttercup54321 · 09/11/2016 22:37

Pretty name. Elena is also nice. I know someone with a child called Eleanor but when they call her they shout Elner. Now that really does ruin a lovely name .Very annoying to listen too also.

buttercup54321 · 09/11/2016 22:39

What about Elaine. That's very unusual now.

dalmatianmad · 09/11/2016 22:39

Beautiful classic name, my grandmother was Eleanor, she was called Nel for short....

gratesnakes · 09/11/2016 22:44

I love it but there are a lot of them about.

Pipilangstrumpf · 10/11/2016 09:13

Eleanor is ok but I find Elena much more feminine and beautiful.

Have to agree that there are a lot of Ellas and Ellies out there already.

I don't agree about Elaine. It's a good name and comes from the Arthurian myths. I think it will come back.
