Our little boy is nameless. We have to register him soon! I feel really sorry for him Grin poor little guy does need a name! We just can't pick (absolutely love them all!) which is your favourite???

Bear.

Or I'd tweak Everest to Everett.

That may just be me, though.

Minnie747 · 05/11/2016 14:44

River is great!

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 05/11/2016 14:47

Another unusually named person here...hasn't held me back yet!

Conniedescending · 05/11/2016 16:00

I think he'd have to grow into a very big chap to carry off Everest without people smirking a lot.

gratefully · 05/11/2016 16:13

Oh I don't know - can you imagine a morbidly obese person having to be called Everest?

Conniedescending · 05/11/2016 16:38

I suppose I was thinking big as in tall and broad rather than obese Smile

Def not a name for a skinny short man

Alb1 · 05/11/2016 16:43

River makes me think of river song from doctor who which is a girls name! Everest is terrible. I wouldn't go for any of them as they are all things rather than human names but I'd say bear is best of the lot

buckingfrolicks · 05/11/2016 16:45

Oh dear god.

Floggingmolly · 05/11/2016 16:48

You really should have gone hiking in the Himalayas before getting pregnant; and got this out of your system...

OrlandaFuriosa · 05/11/2016 16:55

I do think they'll date, but fine if you don't mind that.

None if them sings to me. But not my choice.. but suggest you give a middle name as well so that if dc doesn't like it, can change easily.

Sorry, none of them.

DPotter · 06/11/2016 22:15

You mentioned it in you OP - call him Guy. And its not cos its Nov 6th - trained at Guy's hospital!

OvO · 06/11/2016 22:17

My youngest goes by Bear (not even close to his actual name) so I do like that.

Not once has anyone even blinked when I've called out, "hurry up, Bear," when out and about.

I don't think any your choices would get a lot of odd looks nowadays.

RebelandaStunner · 06/11/2016 22:28

I like these three :
Bear
Forrest
River

Not keen on Everest it just sounds wrong.

elQuintoConyo · 06/11/2016 22:39

How about Onion?

SirChenjin · 07/11/2016 09:47

You didn't watch Still Game, did you Quinto?!

pepperpot99 · 07/11/2016 10:54

How about lumberjack?
Bear Everest
Coyote hill
Fox mountain
Stag river
Raccoon lake

The permutations are endless......

BertrandRussell · 07/11/2016 12:11

Or even possibly you could choose a name for a person not a geographical feature?

How about Edward, with Bear as a nickname?

DoItTooJulia · 07/11/2016 12:17

Love them all except Everest.
Great names op!

Congratulations on your new baby Flowers

theAntsareMyFriends · 07/11/2016 12:31

If you are worried about popularity there are a lot of little Bears around here. I tend to meet one a week.

River is nice but also quite popular and you'll get a lot of people asking if you copied Jamie Oliver as his was born so recently.

I love Forrest. It seems most like a real name and not a word. How many children are going to watch Forrest Gump. Its a dreadful film. If I had to think of an association I'd think Forrest Whitaker and I like him.

Love Everest but didn't know about Paw Patrol. Don't know if that will be around when you child is in school and I think it sound more masculine than feminine. Everett is similar.

WuTangFlan · 07/11/2016 12:32

Bear is tricky as it's also a verb - his cross to bear, I couldn't bear it, bear with me...

There are other names which mean "bear", Bern / Bernard / Bjorn, etc.

Shadowboy · 07/11/2016 12:44

I love nature names and I think they are great although Everest is too closely linked to the mountain. The others are fine and as a teacher I've taught both a river and a Forrest. Not taught a Bear yet.
I don't think the connotations that are made here with River Phoenix and Forrest Gump are there for young people and certainly won't be in 2026 when the child will be close to secondary school. To be honest it's adults that have these hang ups not the kids.

QueenLizIII · 08/11/2016 22:01

River
