Our little boy is nameless. We have to register him soon! I feel really sorry for him Grin poor little guy does need a name! We just can't pick (absolutely love them all!) which is your favourite???

I really like River. How about Everett instead of Everest?

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/11/2016 19:32

How about Leon ?

cookielove · 04/11/2016 19:35

I love Bear, and Forrest! love the actor and i think the gump connection is long gone!

We used Wolfe for our ds''s middle name !

GinIsIn · 04/11/2016 19:36

Is this for a human boy?!

fruityb · 04/11/2016 19:37

I know someone with a Forest, a girl actually, but I do think it's lovely. I also saw a Nevis somewhere which I actually thought was really nice. I also like Ever in that sort of vein (names I love but wouldn't be brace enough to use!) there was a Hunter born next to me when I had my son.

greenfolder · 04/11/2016 19:39

There are 4 children called bear in dds primary school. And no doubt there will be plenty of rivers about. If you want a name that is unusual I'd go with Colin or gary

Jackiebrambles · 04/11/2016 19:39

I'd definitely avoid Everest. For many reasons really, but Paw patrol is the most relevant to children!

SoupDragon · 04/11/2016 19:41

None of them.

MoonHare · 04/11/2016 19:43

Out of those 4 River.

GinevraPotter · 04/11/2016 19:44

Forrest and River are my favourites.

olderthanyouthink · 04/11/2016 19:51

River song anyone...? Or is it just me

Also:
Bear grills
Forrest Gump
Mount Everest

Wouldnt do Everest, and bear only as a nickname

OreoHeaven · 04/11/2016 19:52

Bear or River

LouiseJ88 · 04/11/2016 19:52

Thank you.

Everest was actually my favourite, I had no idea about Paw Patrol.

Bear is a lovely nickname. I like the idea of him being Edward (Teddy) Bear.

The other names have strong associations to me with Forrest Gump, River Phoenix and the mountain.

gunting · 04/11/2016 19:55

Makes me wonder where he was conceived...

gillybeanz · 04/11/2016 19:57

This is joke thread? yes?
Please tell me it is and you aren't seriously considering these names, poor kid Grin
He'll get the piss taken right out of him.

HeadfirstForHalos · 04/11/2016 20:01

In order I like Bear, then Forrest, then River.

I'm not keen on Everest.

Artandco · 04/11/2016 20:02

Change Everest for Ernest?

Ernest Wolfe
Ernest Orion
Ernest Linden
Ernest Winter

HeadfirstForHalos · 04/11/2016 20:06

Gilly, no he won't. Lots of children have more unusual names these days, other kids don't even notice, they've more often than not grown up together. It's adults that have preconceived ideas about names.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/11/2016 20:10

Nevis is very nice, not heard that name before. 😀

HeadfirstForHalos · 04/11/2016 20:12

I've just asked my older children (all at high school and "traditionally" named) and they all like Forrest and Bear best.

My 14 year old doesn't see them as odd names, she said the most popular boy in her year is called Stone, he is "cool" 😊

OSETmum · 04/11/2016 20:15

River.

Bear is too Bear Ghrylls.

The Forrest Gump contention is still relevant I think.

And Everest is too long.

There's River Phoenix of course but I don't think many young people will have heard of him and the only bad connotation is his sad demise 😟.

Pluto30 · 04/11/2016 20:16

Everett is nice. Everest not so much.

If you like nature names, how about using the name of an explorer? Mawson, Edmund (Hillary), Abel (Tasman), James (Cook), Leif (Eriksson) etc.

DoYouRememberJustinBobby · 04/11/2016 20:22

I'd go for Bear but put Edward on the BC to give him more grown up options. Are you in the U.K.?

florascotianew · 04/11/2016 20:25

I agree that Nevis (as in Ben Nevis) sounds pretty, but it is generally thought to have a rather nasty meaning. This is only Wikipedia, but it is repeating the standard opinion:

"" "Ben Nevis" is an Anglicisation of the Scottish Gaelic name "Beinn Nibheis". "Beinn" is the most common Gaelic word for "mountain", "Nibheis" is variously understood, though the word is commonly translated as "malicious" or "venomous".""

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Nevis

Wikipedia does also quote the sometimes suggested, but less likely meanings, which are 'the top of a man's head' or 'with head in the clouds'.

The word Nevis also occurs in different places, of course. In the Caribbean, the 'Nevis' in 'St Kitts and Nevis' is thought to be taken from a Spanish phrase meaning 'of the snows' (as in 'Our Lady of the Snows).
