My son is 3 weeks old.

Thoughts on Johnny? We are really struggling!

Jonathan is nice.

Vicky1201 · 04/11/2016 18:29

Not keen on Jonathan!

It would be Johnny Smile

Could it be John, on paper, everyday name Johnny ?

Sophronia · 04/11/2016 19:27

I like it, but I'd use John as the full name

WhiskyTangoFoxtrot · 04/11/2016 19:27

It's ok, but I'm sure I won't be the only one thinking 'condom'

So this is one that is better as nn than given name

Also thinking condoms here, sorry

PinkDungeon · 04/11/2016 23:52

I really like it!

DerelictMyBalls · 05/11/2016 17:20

Rubber Johnny.

Sorry.

I have a Jonny but it is a nn for Jonathan. He says he likes it as he has option of Jonathan, Jonny and John depending on the situation. (He's a teen now). He has never had anyone say about condoms to his face - well so he says.

LovelyBranches · 06/11/2016 00:25

I love the name. DH didn't. He used the condom slang to make me doubt it.

I would use John (and did, but as a mn)

BuntyFigglesworthSpiffington · 06/11/2016 03:08

Johnny is a great name.

Ignore all the 'condom' people. Johnny Cash, Johnny Depp and Johnny Marr seemed to have coped just fine!

(Jonathan is horrible)

fatowl · 06/11/2016 03:12

I like Johnny but he will go through his teenage years with condom jokes

I teach Chinese ESL students- one of them is called Johnny Kok Grin

MitzyLeFrouf · 06/11/2016 03:18

My brother is a 40 something Johnny and I've never heard him mention any condom gags regarding his name. Confused

Blackpoollassy · 06/11/2016 03:40

Rubber ....

CheerfulYank · 06/11/2016 03:45

I like Johnny but only as a nn for John or Jonathan.

Pluto30 · 06/11/2016 03:50

Never heard of it as a term for condom here...

I like it. It's on my list as a standalone, primarily because it goes well with my surname whereas just John doesn't. I don't like Jonathan because I've known several and none of them go by Johnny. Two are Jono (as in Bono), one is Jonty, and the other is always Jonathan.
