DS2 is a week old...

Which do you prefer?

I think that they both 'suit' him, but not sure which one is a better fit!

I don't think Reuben sounds particularly posh. My favourite of the two.

They're not posh names...

Oscar's been around forever. Oscar Wilde to Oscar the Grouch.

Reuben's not posh either. It's a popular Hebrew name. I know several a couple of Jewish people with this name (none of them posh, and none of them given a hard time).

I know three of each. None of the families are posh (just average families) and have never heard anyone make that kind of comment!

I like Reuben best.

Reuben is a well known Jewish name so perhaps that will sway you towards or away one of them. Both lovely. Congratulations.

Reuben is widely used by non-Jewish families as well though. I know several -4 or 5- and none are Jewish. I wouldn't assume a child called Reuben was Jewish anymore than I'd assume a child called Niamh was Irish these days.

thethoughtfox Oscar has been in the top 10 for the last few years and is hugely popular across the entire country these days. I don't know anybody who sees it as posh and it's certainly not a name that kids of this generation are going to get teased for.
