Hey. I'm trying to think of a name for my daughter. I want an elegant name. I've always thought that the name Alyssa was quite nice. What do you all think?

I think it's beautiful Smile

gettingtherequickly · 31/10/2016 22:51

Yes

ImperialBlether · 31/10/2016 22:57

It's a lovely name.

BarInSpace · 31/10/2016 23:30

I really like it.

Sophronia · 31/10/2016 23:48

I like it

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 01/11/2016 17:59

Definitely, great choice OP.

Yika · 01/11/2016 18:34

Yes elegant.

IhatchedaSnorlax · 01/11/2016 19:15

It's a lovely name but I don't consider it elegant - makes me think of Alyssa Milano (who I like as an actress but wouldn't think of as elegant).

BeattieBowRisenFromTheDead · 01/11/2016 19:16

I think Elissa is nicer, personally.

hoddtastic · 01/11/2016 19:17

Alice is nicest and classy.
Alyssa can be a bit 'screeched out in iceland by a woman in pj's' iyswim?

Kittykatmacbill · 01/11/2016 19:35

I don't think, so Alice is more elegant.

RiverTam · 01/11/2016 19:37

The one Alyssa I know certainly isn't elegant, she's a teeny tiny very bouncy cheerful 6 year old. But elegant she is not, though she may be one day!

MoonHare · 01/11/2016 19:41

No it's not elegant.

Strokethefurrywall · 01/11/2016 19:42

I think of my friends 3 year Alyssa who is utterly beautiful, half Spanish little one.

Gorgeous name because I think of her!

AmyInTheBoonies · 01/11/2016 19:44

Not elegant to me, more of a celeb / stage school type of name. Not awful, it's just not elegant.

user1471461752 · 01/11/2016 19:45

Love this name a lot!

Wishfulmakeupping · 01/11/2016 19:46

What Hodd said sorry

crayfish · 01/11/2016 19:49

Not elegant no. I think it's the double s. Alicia seems more elegant to me but is pronounced a bit differently.

ozymandiusking · 01/11/2016 20:29

I think Alicia is nicer.

SausageSoda · 01/11/2016 20:41

I agree with Hodd -anything but elegant IMO, sorry Blush

HelloSunshines · 01/11/2016 20:51

I like Alyssa, but it will be mistaken for Alicia/Alyssia/Alica/Alissa a lot, possibly.

Do you like the name Alexandra? I think that's elegant, and classy!

Or Francesca, or Frances? Or Elise?

BastardGoDarkly · 01/11/2016 20:54

I wanted Alyssa, Elise or Alice for DD, but DH only liked Eloise, which I also love.

I think it's lovely OP.

HelloSunshines · 01/11/2016 20:55

I do think Alice as some other posters have said is elegant, and pretty. It's more of a classic name than Alyssa.

Lucinda?

FlyingGaribaldi · 01/11/2016 20:55

The one I know is a big, buxom hockey-playing extrovert who is a bit on the I'M MAD, ME!!! LET'S ALL DO SHOTS!!!! side of things.

HelloSunshines · 01/11/2016 20:56

Helena?

(Sorry, keep thinking of alternatives not that you've even asked for them Grin I'm a baby name fanatic....)
