Thoughts on the name Marcia Joan (first and middle)?

We think we've settled on Simon for a boy (no middle name yet), but haven't managed to settle on a name for a girl.

Thanks! Smile

I really like it.

Sophronia · 26/10/2016 11:46

I like it too

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/10/2016 11:48

Lovely Smile

squoosh · 26/10/2016 13:12

Is it pronounced mar-cee-a or marsha? The Marcia I know pronounces it marsha.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 26/10/2016 13:25

Very nice, how about Simon David.

AGruffaloCrumble · 26/10/2016 13:26

Very American sounding.

Vixxfacee · 26/10/2016 13:55

Awful. Simon is especially bad.

IDreamOfPeace · 26/10/2016 16:53

Love it!

Pluto30 · 26/10/2016 21:27

It is quite American sounding, you're right. I suppose that's what we go for! Grin

I like Simon David, thanks for that suggestion!

It would be prn. Marsha, as that's how people would assume it was pronounced here (not in the UK).

I like Simon with or w/o David, but Marsha is grade-A terrible.

OutnumberedbyFurchesters · 26/10/2016 21:32

When I saw the title of the thread (in active) I thought it was about a celeb I'd never heard of - like a American cooking show host/chef or talk show host...

still, it's a nice name.

I read it in a whiny American kids voice. I'm not sure why

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 26/10/2016 21:38

Dislike all of them sorry.

RiverTam · 26/10/2016 21:40

I'm afraid I think that's a pair of very ugly, old fashioned for a reason, names. But MN love those kinds of names so you'll pribsbly get a resounding thumbs up!

Simon David is fine.

WuTangFlan · 26/10/2016 21:45

It's quite 1950s but also rockabilly. I know an MJ (not Marcia Joan but same initials) who really suits it.

AliciaMayEmory · 26/10/2016 21:59

Love them both!

Tryittwice · 26/10/2016 22:25

No likey sorry.

rainbow99 · 26/10/2016 23:49

Not a fan either - sorry. Both seem very dated to me and not in a good way

BikeRunSki · 26/10/2016 23:53

I know a Marcia who is 4. She only lasted about 3 months as being known as Marcia before her parents switched to her middle name, because everybody pronounced Marcia differently.

Ikeameatballs · 27/10/2016 00:03

I prefer the Mar-see-a pronunciation.

I also prefer Jean to Joan.

Simon is nice. I only know lovely ones.

EllenDegenerate · 27/10/2016 17:11

Oh dear,

Simon is bloody awful. On a par with Keith.

SunnyInMay · 27/10/2016 19:23

I like Marcy but not Marcia. Makes me think of martian.

Bertucci · 27/10/2016 19:25

Hmm - all a bit 1970s. Not keen.

Marcipex · 28/10/2016 10:03

I like Marcia , but not pronounced Marsha. I think Marcy is nice because presumably no one would say Marshy.

Sorry to say I really can't like Simon tho. Simple Simon.
