We just cannot decide!

Aidan or Elliot?

Let's see how many people spell them Aiden and Elliott Grin

I have an Elliot (note the correct spelling!) so am biased. Lovely name

OrangeTango330ml · 10/10/2016 14:55

I love Elliot! It's gorgeous Smile DH doesn't like the 'Elly' shortening, but I don't think it's a problem!

I have an aidan.. hardly anyone spells it correctly.

LondonStill83 · 10/10/2016 14:59

I also have an Elliot and love the name. Not too keen on Aidan though there is one in our NCT group. We shorten to Eli (as in: E- lie).

ayeokthen · 10/10/2016 15:01

We have an Aidan and like dimples20 hardly anybody spells it properly. I do love it though!

SquedgieBeckenheim · 10/10/2016 15:05

I vote Elliot! (Autocorrect tried to add a second t)

Pipilangstrumpf · 10/10/2016 15:06

I prefer Elliot. The one we know goes mostly by his full name but sometimes by Ell or Elly. I think it's not a problem.

(E-lie doesn't seem a natural shortening, in fact I find it really difficult to say E-lie and think of Elliot).

bluebirdx · 10/10/2016 15:06

Elliot by miles!

loobylou10 · 10/10/2016 15:13

Yes mine gets El or Elly.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 10/10/2016 15:16

Elliot.

OrangeTango330ml · 10/10/2016 15:17

Thanks Smile

I don't mind El or Elly!

What would Aidan get? Aid?Confused

I think I'd use the full names, but other people will shorten.

It's so hard! I love them both...

ayeokthen · 10/10/2016 15:31

I call our Aidan Aidy, but I'm the only one who shortens it.

CakeRattleandRoll · 10/10/2016 15:55

Elliot

septembersunshine · 10/10/2016 20:35

I have a 6 week old Aidan and he is beautiful. I may be a bit biased!. I would shorten it to Aidy , Dan or Danny.(loved the name Daniel But dh wasn't buying it at all...Aidan great compromise due to Dan sound!). But mainly I would use his full name since it's only two syllabels. Elliott is fine but I think it's a little feminine for me. It doesn't sound as strong as Aidan...which is soft sounding but still a strong name. Maybe Elliot sounds feminine due to all the elle/Ellie type girls names. Also it's a surname too and i'm not a fan of first names that can also be surnames. Maybe wait till he's born?!

Oysterbabe · 10/10/2016 22:35

Elliot.
I had an ex called Aidan and he was an utter cunt. Might have coloured my opinion slightly..

katemess12 · 10/10/2016 22:41

Elliot.

I don't like Aidan at all.

FinallyARainbow · 10/10/2016 22:41

Aidan, love it and was on our list.

DramaAlpaca · 10/10/2016 22:42

I like both, with a slight preference for Aidan.

Iggity · 10/10/2016 22:44

I have an Aidan. One of his classmates shortened it to Aids.....

Sophronia · 10/10/2016 23:06

Not keen on either, but Aidan if I had to pick

Andbabymakesthree · 10/10/2016 23:10

Aidan.

Rarely shortened. Also rarely spelt right.

Its a saints name who founded an Abbey ffs is what i tell people who say I've spelt it oddly!

Andbabymakesthree · 10/10/2016 23:11

Current bump might be an Elliot yet!

strawberrypenguin · 10/10/2016 23:11

Elliot. I love it and would have used it for DS2 but it would have sounded rediculous with his brothers name

SorenaJ · 11/10/2016 14:07

Elliot
