I've had my heart set on this name for years now. I absolutely love it but the reaction from friends and family has been far from positive. Honest opinions please! Grin

I quite like it, but it does make me immediately think of Adrian Mole.
And Pandora's Box.

I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing Confused

peppercold · 04/10/2016 20:46

Jewellery

FadedRed · 04/10/2016 20:48

I love Pandora, and most other Greek mythology type names, but wouldn't use Pandora because of the link with jewellery and 'boxes' Grin
What about other names in that ilk:
Persephone
Cassiopeia
Cassandra
Hera
Phaedra
Phillippa
Phoebe

frikadela01 · 04/10/2016 20:50

It makes me think immediately of Adrian Mole. This is not a bad thing, I love adrian mole and have always loved the name Pandora. Now that youve reminded me I will be putting it on the list if eventual baby no 2 is a girl.

Go for it if you love it.

misson · 04/10/2016 20:51

Box. Sorry.

chinlo · 04/10/2016 20:53

Love it.

Soubriquet · 04/10/2016 20:54

Box or jewellery here

Sorry

PotatoBread · 04/10/2016 20:55

Sorry but I'd think you were naming your DD after an overpriced bracelet

Buttercupsandaisies · 04/10/2016 20:57

I defo wudnt use it - jewellery

mycatstares · 04/10/2016 20:57

I love the name Pandora. I think of the name before the jewellery even though I own one of the bracelets.

0pti0na1 · 04/10/2016 21:57

I like it, but yes, everyone will say "box" and it won't be funny after the 10,000th time!

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 04/10/2016 22:00

Use it if you love it.
It's a nice name, Phaedra is an option !

powershowerforanhour · 04/10/2016 22:04

Nope, there'll be too many disgusting drunks lurching up to her in bars slavering about opening her box. Don't inflict that on her.

albertcampionscat · 04/10/2016 22:05

Pandora
I adore ya.

roseteapot101 · 04/10/2016 22:12

name of the planet from avatar and pandoras box its a bit different but i have seen people name their kids after video game characters each to their own i guess but not my cup of tea

villainousbroodmare · 04/10/2016 22:14

Box. Sorry.

BellMcEnd · 04/10/2016 22:15

LOVE it and would have seriously considered it if I'd had a girl.

Onehellofaride · 04/10/2016 22:15

I love it!

RiverTam · 04/10/2016 22:23

Pandora!
I adore ya!
I implore ye
Don't ignore me.

And then she spelt his name Adrain with her sparkler.

Sorry OP Grin

frikadela01 · 04/10/2016 22:24

River you beat me to it Grin

PaperdollCartoon · 04/10/2016 22:27

A small person in my family has this name and it's lovely. She's called Panda for short. It means 'the girl with all the gifts', what could be better!? I hate the jewellery but to be honest it never made me think of that before I knew baby Pandora. It's definitely unusual but in a good way.

mariebelle · 05/10/2016 10:27

Mixed reviews but glad to see that some of you like it Smile thanks everyone

I like it. The 'box' connections might put me off slightly but the Adrian Mole connection wouldn't! He was an intellectual you know, even if he wasn't very clever.

MotherDuckSaid · 05/10/2016 21:08

sorry, i think its horrendous ! What about as a middle name ?
I strangely know of two pugs named Pandora !
I could just imagine a teacher cringing when having to call her name on the register, sorry !

KoalaDownUnder · 06/10/2016 11:59

I'm not a fan because of the jewellery & box thing.

How about Paloma?
