Dh and I are really struggling with baby names, we quite like Thea but I'm still not 100%. What do you think of the name Thea and what names might be of a similar ilk? I don't want a name that's too frilly. I want something that's undeniably female but quite strong too.

Love Thea. Really pretty.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/10/2016 17:43

Go with Thea , Lovely.
It is a beautiful, classy name , in my eyes.
Tia, Mia and Ria, don't cut it.

JustHereForThePooStories · 03/10/2016 17:46

Love Thea.

Also love Tessa.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 03/10/2016 17:47

Beautiful name, strong but soft at the same time.

FadedRed · 03/10/2016 17:48

Had a lovely, lovely teacher called Thea, short for Dorethea. Think it's it's a really nice name.

Lindy2 · 03/10/2016 17:49

I've only known one Thea and she was very cool. She was actually Theabelle but chose to drop the Belle part of her name. It's a good name. A bit different but not too unusual.

Ca55andraMortmain · 03/10/2016 20:19

I have a Thea so I'm obviously biased but I think it's lovely and will suit her no matter what kind of person she turns out to be. Thea would be a good name for a little tomboy or a fashion obsessed teenager and anything in between. If you don't go for Thea, we also had Tess/ Tessa, Asha and Annika on our list .

It's becoming very popular here SE if that bothers you. Pretty name.

Sunnydawn · 03/10/2016 21:26

I love it. One of my favourite girl's names.

WaitrosePigeon · 03/10/2016 21:44

It's 'trendy' at the moment.

LetitiaCropleysCookbook · 03/10/2016 21:51

I know two. Lovely name, but both pronounced differently!
One is short for Matthea, and pronounced Thay-a. The other is pronounced Thee-a.

fabulousfun · 03/10/2016 22:01

Hebe?

AbernathysFringe · 03/10/2016 22:27

Thea is the girl version of Theo which is very God related, so it always sounds quite bookish and religious to me.

spacefrog35 · 03/10/2016 22:29

Lovely name.

Thank you for your suggestions. I like Tess but I prefer Thea which is good, it's helped cement it's place for me.

I have a Thea, she's two, and it totally suits her. I also didn't want a frilly name and my Thea is quite a tomboy too!
I have only come across one other.

AngelicaSchuylerChurch · 05/10/2016 10:40

Love Dorothea nn Thea.

How about Thalia?

Stitchosaurus · 05/10/2016 10:42

I love Thea! If we had a girl, that's what we'd have named her. It's a beautiful name
