Unusual baby names

Trying to think of both boys and girls names, I like very odd and unusual names that are unheard of. I have Lyndon and Elodie for girls but only Kylan for a boy would like some suggestions on more names for both sexes please?

I also knew a girl at uni called Blaise (or blaize maybe). She said it was quite common where she was from in Australia, but I've never heard it since.

Elodie is quite common (as in popular) I think so wouldn't deprive it as unusual myself.

How about Dilara? I know one and she's awesome!

Pipilangstrumpf · 28/09/2016 14:31

Most of these names are not 'very odd and unheard of' - I know a few Elodies, Harriets, a Lyndon and a Conrad.

You should have a look at last year's ONS lists of ALL baby names given - there are literally thousands to choose from.

I love daiciana for a girl x

Ohdofuckoffplease · 28/09/2016 19:23

That should have said "wouldn't describe it as unusual..." in my last post, not "deprive" Confused - go home autocorrect, you're drunk! Grin

BikeRunSki · 28/09/2016 19:25

If you know "so many girls" called Lyndon, surely it's not unusual.

I've known a Linden, a man.

outofdepth · 28/09/2016 19:31

Clemency and Dulcie for a girl

Stanley and Sidney for a boy

I love Eedie now I've seen that. Me and DP have decided in Maverick for a boy still trying decide on a middle name, but still stuck on a girls name, her middle name will be Valerie Rose so would like something that went with that x

OP, how about Edith Valerie Rose? Edie for short. You could go with Edie Valerie Rose, if the two "ee" sounds don't bother you, though.

I like Maverick a lot. Smile

lexxiedoll · 29/09/2016 02:46

I'm not keen on Edith as a name and don't think I would have the two (EE) sounds together. Girls names are such a struggle and now trying to find a middle name after settling on Maverick is even harder Confused

Maverick Luther
Maverick Aspen
Maverick Edmund
Maverick Zephyr
Maverick Oakley
Maverick Jonas
Maverick Ainsley

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 29/09/2016 07:36

Lexxie, how about Eden Valerie Rose (Edie).

BertrandRussell · 29/09/2016 07:36

What if he's a small, shy conventional rule- keeper. Don't you think Maverick would be a bit of a burden?

MyNewBearTotoro · 29/09/2016 07:47

My DD is Elodie. I love the name and whilst I wouldn't say it's super popular I'm not sure it's that unusual - we've certainly met a few.

My colleague has an Eadi, pronounced eedie.

LamppostInWinter · 29/09/2016 07:47

I know a Maverick. He's a very shy, timid child and doesn't suit his name at all. A lot of people feel quite sorry for him, so do think it through.

Pipilangstrumpf · 29/09/2016 09:26

Maverick is great and people will associate any name with a real person. Not all Graces are graceful for example.

skyyequake · 29/09/2016 09:30

I like Lennox for a girl which is similar in sound to Lyndon...

I'm crap with boys names luckily I got a DD so I won't attempt them! I do like sugarpies suggestions for middle names though, and I like Maverick Smile

lexxiedoll · 29/09/2016 12:02

If my child takes after me and DP then I have no concerns about Maverick not suiting him. Me and DP really like Jonas and Oakley so they're now in the running. Eden is very pretty as well so now to swing DP around on that one. Thank you guys x

I love Orry and Orianna

What about Gwen?

Boys Harley Rafael Jonas

Rooberoobe · 29/09/2016 21:34

Not as pretty as some but I love the name Lux. Boy or girl but prefer for a girl. Not everyone's cup of tea. I tried hard to convince my DP didn't work.

Love Enzo for a boy and Ezra for a girl too.

skyyequake · 29/09/2016 23:04

I would agree with you on Lux Roober but it just makes me think of the pokemon Grin

Like Enzo and Ezra but both for boys...

CodyKing · 29/09/2016 23:15

Isn't Lux a soap?

lexxiedoll · 30/09/2016 00:56

Massive thank you to everyone for your help. Me and DP have finally decided on Eden Valerie Rose (eedie for nn) for a girl and Maverick Lee Jonas for a boy. 5 weeks till we find out which one they'll be when they arrive. Yet again big thank you x

Yay ! All the very best Lexxie, you'll soon be holding your beautiful baby.
Great name choices ! 😄

Came across a boy called Darwin this week. Also know an Osian (Ozzy) which I thought was unusual..
