Brother for Aurelia --- Atticus??

My husband and I are struggling with boys names. He wants very traditional for a boy, I like something a bit more unique (I was always one of many with the same name in school). We've got Aurelia which is a bit different (pronounced Au-RAY-Lia) and I quite like Atticus. Too different??

Other names I like...
Montgomery
Rupert
Isaac
(Hubby not liking any of these!)

He does like Atticus, but thinks it's too much. He comes from quite a traditional family of names.

Thoughts or suggestions?

clumsyduck · 27/09/2016 23:22

Atticus is very nice

I think it's also the name of a rock band though ?!

DramaAlpaca · 27/09/2016 23:22

I like Atticus with Aurelia.

It's my favourite from your list.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 28/09/2016 09:14

Goes well with Aurelia.

Billynoname · 28/09/2016 09:17

I absolutely love Atticus (Atti or Arti as nn). It was my fave name for a boy last time and again this time but DDs for us. Do it! Xx

WatchS20 · 28/09/2016 09:18

I love the name Atticus. Go for it. Aurelia is great too, you have good taste (:

WatchingFromTheWings · 28/09/2016 09:25

Love Atticus! There's a lad in my kids school with that name.....I'd never heard of it before!

fitzbilly · 28/09/2016 09:30

Atticus is a great name and good week with aurelia

fitzbilly · 28/09/2016 09:30

*goes well

Solasum · 28/09/2016 09:53

Better to avoid two A initials?

Pinklily1 · 28/09/2016 10:32

I love Atticus too.

What about Otto as another option?

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 28/09/2016 10:40

I love Atticus. DH vetoed it.

PotteringAlong · 28/09/2016 11:40

I love atticus but not with auralia. But that might be because I would automatically avoid the same initials.

Scarydinosaurs · 28/09/2016 12:06

Love Atticus, but not with Aurelia.

Diggory is cool, also like Rafe, Raphael, Tobias and Odysseus.

Tanyaaah · 28/09/2016 12:09

Sorry, its awful.

DataColour · 28/09/2016 12:20

I have an Atticus and I actually considered Aurelia for DD but I didn't want the same initial.
Love Atticus!

FindingNemoFindingDory · 28/09/2016 13:33

It's not my style, but I think it's fine!

Pipilangstrumpf · 28/09/2016 14:42

I like Atticus! Maybe not ideal to have the same initials... I also like Montgomery or how about Quentin?

babyblabber · 28/09/2016 18:57

I like Atticus. Quite posh I would say but definitely positive connotations. I wouldn't worry about the same initials thing, seems to be a mumsnet sin but I can't see an issue.

Aurelia is beautiful. On our list but I'm worried about nicknames. I know my DH will have to shorten it to something but I don't know what! Is yours ever nicknamed?

AP618 · 28/09/2016 19:28

Thanks all! I know not every name will be to everyones taste but seems mostly positive which is a nice surprise! I'm an A initial too, never real though about that before, so not too worried about it. I love all the names suggested too, some of which are on my list, maybe not my husbands but I'm working on it :) Thanks for the feedback and suggestions, very helpful!

Babyblabber - NN for Aurelia is hard and we thought about it before as well but I mainly call her by her full name or just drop the Au. The kids at the childminder call her Raylee (not sure of spelling but thats how it sounds!). She refers to herself as Aurelia or drops the Au and she's only 2 so not too much of a mouthful for her at least. Some tend to struggle with it at times, but mainly the older generation. I suppose we should go with what we like and thats who they are! Can't please everyone but we loved it and haven't looked back, get a lot of nice compliments too x

Aurelia and Atticus are both beautiful names, but I'm not sure if they actually do go that well together.

I would probably look for something starting with a different sound/letter - but maybe with Atticus as a MN?

Just off the top of my head, how about;

Torin
Jolyon
Elijah
Levi

babyblabber · 28/09/2016 19:59

Raylee is so cute! It's moved to top of the list now!

Oriunda · 02/10/2016 22:33

On the basis that if DS had been a girl, she would have been Aurelia, I offer you my Cosmo

chinlo · 02/10/2016 23:31

It's a great name, cool/modern but strong too. I'd have considered it for our DS but our dog has a very similar sounding name so we couldn't.

I think it goes really well with Aurelia too.

t4nut · 02/10/2016 23:32

Dear gods you people must hate your children and want them to get beaten up at school.....
