Opinions on these names please and do you prefer one to the other?

Thanks!

Do you have any Irish or Scottish heritage?

If not, I prefer the Irish Lochlan Smile

AstridT · 26/09/2016 20:26

Forgot to say, I'm not keen on it Sad sorry

AbandonHopeDarren · 26/09/2016 20:36

Thanks, I actually have both Irish and Scottish heritage! I have stronger ties to Ireland though.

It's just to add to a shortlist at this stage, so no offence taken if people say they dislike it.

Lochlan has a nicer sound to it

katemess12 · 26/09/2016 21:39

I've only seen it spelt Lachlan here (Australia). I know a few of them, including a cousin. They all get Lachie (prn. Locky) for short.

I don't like it. Sounds awful in my accent, at least.

Caldini22 · 26/09/2016 22:04

Id write as Lachlan. I like it!

HardcoreLadyType · 26/09/2016 22:10

I've only ever seen Lachlan, until a few days ago, on a baby name thread. I googled it, because I assumed Lochlan was a spelling mistake, but I discovered that I was wrong, and it is, indeed, also correct.

So, personal preference, really.

HardcoreLadyType · 26/09/2016 22:11

Oh, and I do like it.

Loyly · 26/09/2016 22:16

I prefer Lachlan

tirtytreeandatird · 26/09/2016 22:17

Mmm neither ...I do like Lorcan though ....

AbandonHopeDarren · 27/09/2016 08:08

Lorcan would become Law-cun where I live! It's nice in an Irish accent though.

There are a few names I like which would get massacred where I live. Tabitha becomes Tabiffa, Cormac becomes Cawmac, Saoirse becomes something like Seahorse, Theodore becomes Feodore, Henrietta becomes Henri-eh-ah etc.

Lochlan has a much nicer sound. The Scottish Lachlan sound like a duck quacking.
