Any suggestions? Think Dylan, James, Aaron, etc for a little girl.

The most obvious are Charlie and Jamie but I'm not so keen on those.

I love American "surname for first names" especially unisex ones, already used Parker and Carter.

"Love love love gender neutral names"

But they aren't gender neutral names- they are boy's names!

Never mind the parents picking the name they like, why does no one ever think about how the child will feel about their name? Or that who they grow to be is a direct result of people's reactions and interactions with them. Can you not imagine being in the playground and all the kids smirking about how you have a boys name. Nevermind all the confusion when letters, documents etc are constantly addressed to Mr ...

WaitrosePigeon · 16/09/2016 14:40

Hideous, all of it.

marthamydear · 22/09/2016 21:27

I know an Irish lady in her 50's or early 60's and her name is Joseph. She has said It was really common when she was growing up (in Ireland)

I love this as she's the only female Joseph I know and my son is Joseph.

SnotGoblin · 22/09/2016 21:29

I really like Frankie.

kate1296 · 22/09/2016 21:56

I have an Alice that's quite a strong but pretty name x

windygallows · 22/09/2016 23:08

Frankie Bridge is that you? I think you've got a Parker and Carter st home and your name has been mentioned a few times in this thread. Are you of with Dc3? Smile

Sorry I know I'm late to this but just wanted to say you have good taste op.
I also have a Jesse who is constantly assumed to be a girl and once "Jeffy"
Hmm

I love that lots of posters are saying they don't think of it as a girls name and I absolutely agree, however having seen the reactions to it and assumptions with my son over the last 5 years I can safely say lots of people do think it's a girls name. Anyway I'm of the opinion that people associate names with people they know and so for every person that meets ds they'll now think of him when they hear the name.

Andie was on my short list for DD, I love it but I thought we might seem a bit toy story obsessed HA!
I also really liked Aubrey.
Let us know what you decide. Smile

MotherDuckSaid · 25/09/2016 21:26

i love Dale for a girl

BikeRunSki · 25/09/2016 21:29

Morgan

SueTrinder · 25/09/2016 21:52

FWIW I suspect what we are seeing here is a backlash to the popularity of all the 'little girl' names ending in 'y' or 'ie' and 'a', the current top 10 girls names have 8 names ending in a and 2 ending in y (Amelia, Olivia, Emily, Isla, Ava, Ella, Jessica, Isabella, Mia, Poppy). My parents and their friends (all born in the 1930s and 1940s) have lots of unisex (nick)names e.g. Chris, Bobby, Sandy, Lesley, Lindsay etc. In another 10 years we'll have lots of these unisex names, it's just the wheel of fashion going round.

goingfortwo · 06/10/2016 17:54

we really like Murphy for a girl, it didn't go down well on here (but oh well)! we are also considering Maverick for a boy!

WeArePregnant11 · 06/10/2016 18:16

Blair? Blaise? Taylor? Sam? Billie? Jo?

Most of these were probably already suggested, so...

But I really like the idea of unisex names for girls:)

CPtart · 06/10/2016 18:32

I have a unisex name. I hate it.
How about Erica? A strong feminine name.

RebelandaStunner · 06/10/2016 19:23

I like:
Bradley
Casey
Billie
Toni ( though I like Antonia more)

minipie · 06/10/2016 19:35

Unisex names are one thing.

Calling a girl Adrian (or any other clearly boy's name) is another thing.

I am a feminist and anti gender stereotyping but calling a girl a boy's name is not being "gender neutral". It is indicating to the world that this person is a boy. Which she is not.

WeArePregnant11 · 06/10/2016 23:29

Payton, Ariel, Brooke, Skylar, Alex, Brice,,,

But I personally prefer Jo, Billie and Blair.

Btw, Adrian is apparently unisex? Idk, shrug.

SuburbanRhonda · 06/10/2016 23:49

I wouldn't be shocked or laugh to meet a boy called Anna, Emily

I don't believe you.

Scattymere · 07/10/2016 10:44

I had a hairdresser called Morgan when I was a teenager- had a bit of a girl crush on her and was obsessed by her name, still love it! Far far prefer strong girls names like those on this thread than twee, pretentious names like Imogen and Harriet.
