Any suggestions? Think Dylan, James, Aaron, etc for a little girl.

The most obvious are Charlie and Jamie but I'm not so keen on those.

I love American "surname for first names" especially unisex ones, already used Parker and Carter.

I knew a spencer. She was talented and unique and very happy in her own skin. I also like Riley
If I get a 3rd dd I'm called her something shortened to Ronnie.
I've just met a Brodie - love that too

princessmombi · 05/09/2016 20:20

Also spencer had a sister called Lyle

princessmombi · 05/09/2016 20:21

Knox

Catinthecorner · 05/09/2016 20:22

Princess. Veronica is the usual to get Ronnie for a girl.

UmbongoUnchained · 05/09/2016 20:26

I absolutely love Frankie for a girl.

Bertrand what is your problem? Very strange coming from such a militant feminist as yourself.

misstweedyweedy · 05/09/2016 20:38

I think Bill from Mallory Towers was Wilhelmina or something to that effect.

I rather like Darrell ( a la Mallory Towers again). There was also a US gymnast called Shawn Johnson, never come across another female Shawn.

"Bertrand what is your problem? Very strange coming from such a militant feminist as yourself."

It is a feminist issue for me. Why aren't girl's names good enough? Nobody would ever give a boy a girl's name. "Unisex" means "boys". And once a name becomes identified with girls, people stop using it for boys- it becomes "devalued".

There are lovely names that girls and women have been carrying for centuries- and new ones that are for girls alone. why not use them proudly for our girls?

Not sure if it's already been suggested but I love Bryn. Also like Ryan and Taylor a lot.
Love Piper and Harper (not really "boy" names but a little more on the masculine side.)

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 05/09/2016 21:12

Alex
Freddie
Joe
Sam
Henri

CalleighDoodle · 05/09/2016 21:16

Jesse is a boys name :/

I like (wini)Fred for a girl.

GruffaloPants · 05/09/2016 21:17

Rae and Greer are both nice female names but have a masculine feel.

Idontneedyourjudgement · 05/09/2016 21:20

Scott (Scotty sounds very cute!)

Surf25 · 05/09/2016 22:15

LOVE Jesse as a boy's name. Sadly IN Scotland it is a no-no (at least where I am from!)
How about Stevie, Noa(h) or Bobbie

YourNewspaperIsShit · 05/09/2016 22:15

"There are lovely names that girls and women have been carrying for centuries- and new ones that are for girls alone. why not use them proudly for our girls?"

Because I don't like them? And that's good enough for me.

Surf Is it a negative insult for a "girly-boy" where you are? My DM is half Scottish and was dead against me using it for that reason Blush

LittleBearPad · 05/09/2016 22:18

So 'Jesse' is ok but 'Jessie' isn't, that's just illogical.

Surf25 · 05/09/2016 22:28

Yes, Your it is exactly that - very irritating. I think if I hadn't been brought up surrounded by people using it as that insult I could see past it but sadly not. Such a shame when a name is spoiled. However, am always glad to come across a male Jesse and compliment them (and their parents) on their name!!!

Meow75 · 05/09/2016 22:33

As a person with a unisex name, it sucks quite frankly.

Please help me understand why ANYONE would do this to their most beloved child because I've never had a satisfactory answer from my parents.

I was treated horrendously at primary school by kids in my class and older as my brother was 2 school years ahead of me. The only way I could stop was by fighting.

Wafflenose · 05/09/2016 22:41

I know someone who named her baby girl Ezra recently.

notagiraffe · 05/09/2016 22:43

I know an Adrien, two Sydneys, a Stevie, a Bryan (yes really) and loads of Georgies. All good names.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 05/09/2016 22:45

Luca
Rio
Alex
Jay

UmbongoUnchained · 05/09/2016 22:47

I've just realised I have a boys name. Loki. Never caused me any issues. Apart from people usually assuming that I was the naughty one. I was but that's not the point
