Any suggestions? Think Dylan, James, Aaron, etc for a little girl.

The most obvious are Charlie and Jamie but I'm not so keen on those.

I love American "surname for first names" especially unisex ones, already used Parker and Carter.

Scout
Stevie
Harper
Dylan
Darcey
Emerson

All were on our list if we had a girl - we had 2 boys and chose Surnames for first names with both of them.

Tartyflette · 06/09/2016 02:19

Well, they won't be 'unisex' for long, even if they are at present, which is doubtful.
As soon as these names start being given to girls in large numbers, very few, if any, parents will call their sons Harper or Darcey or Scout etc.
CF : Hilary, Evelyn, Esme, Beverley -- all of which could be used for boys or girls in the early to mid 20th century. No longer....
If you really want to use a boy's name for a girl, how about Roger? Time for a comeback for that one, I think. Wink.
Bertrand is right on this, as usual.

Mango DS is named after my GGM who was Jessie (not Jessica) it's nice to hear there's some others around I was shocked people thought it was unusual to be honest because I hear it on TV all the time but I think it might just be my rural area... Clearly I love your name Grin

Tarty I get what you're saying but you're missing the part where i don't mind Smile

Strokethefurry (So tempted to call you Jeffrey Wink) Emerson is absolutely gorgeous! I also love Addison but can't convince DP on that one

If not, give your girl a girl's name.

Yes let employers see her CV and not short list her.

If I had a daughter she would have either a gender neutral name or one that can be shortened to gender neutral eg Victoria/Victor or Christine/Chris.

So OP Chris/Kris
I knew a Bobbi-Jo - it really suited her
Jo
Vivian
Lee / Leigh - I thought the Leigh spelling was a female version until I met a male one
Robbie / Bobby
Blair
Alex
Tony/Toni
Lesley

Tartyflette Are you forgetting Hillary Ben and Dr Hillary Jones?

BertrandRussell · 06/09/2016 07:13

"tarara I loathe the pink for girls, blue for boys rubbish!"

I do too.
But you don't get rid of that by giving girls boy's names- which then automatically become girl's names anyway because people won't them use them for boys any more.

And there isn't a person on here who would call a boy Violet or Emily or Susanna. And rightly not. But what does that say about societal norms and the value we put on maleness.

BertrandRussell · 06/09/2016 07:16

"Tarty I get what you're saying but you're missing the part where i don't mind smile"

That's great. But don't then pretend that you're doing it because you're a gender warrior.........

KentMum2008 · 06/09/2016 07:40

YourNewspaper My parents were way ahead of their time when they named me Jessie. It was an amalgamation of my Grandads name (Jeremy) and my Nans (Flossie). Twilight eat your heart out! Incidentally, my Grandad used to get called Jem, which is now thought of as a 'girls' name.

MrsJayy · 06/09/2016 07:52

I agree with Bertrand on this girls names are not weak and there is nothing wrong with feminine names calling a girl say Poppy isnt a weak or feeble. I dont have anything against unisex names having a masculine name does not a stronger girl make.

FinallyHere · 06/09/2016 08:41

One of the most lovely people i know, is called Henrietta, known as Henri.

YourNewspaperIsShit · 06/09/2016 09:34

"That's great. But don't then pretend that you're doing it because you're a gender warrior........."

Not a very fair statement considering I never claimed to be one ConfusedHmm

I always wanted Maxwell for our little
Girl but OH was having none of it...

YourNewspaperIsShit · 06/09/2016 09:38

MrsJayy My point was I think names have absolutely nothing to do with strength/personality... I agree. I just like unisex names.

I have a Kennedy, Parker, Carter and Jesse... I'm not exactly going to then have a Lilly-May I just don't like girly names, nothing except personal preference Smile I wouldn't tell someone using names such as Charlotte, Christopher, James, Sarah to want to use names like Krystal or Zebedee

YourNewspaperIsShit · 06/09/2016 09:40

mhar I love that, and as PP said Max is such a nice name too so the nickname is just as lovely

BertrandRussell · 06/09/2016 09:44

But they aren't unisex names. They are boy's names.

I can't think of any properly unisex names.

Barksdale · 06/09/2016 09:51

They all sound like girls' names, just very "American" names - like a gang of bitchy "popular" girls in a high school film.

YourNewspaperIsShit · 06/09/2016 09:56

But Bert I only have one DS lol, those names are given to girls so they are unisex because they are used for both gender.

All i made this for was suggestions on boys names that suited girls. Not to be flamed for whatever reason you all see fit, my DC are already named so there's no point slating their names Grin

OP posts:
YourNewspaperIsShit · 06/09/2016 09:57

That's ok barksdale that must just be the style I like, everyone is different

MrsJayy · 06/09/2016 09:58

Robin and Lee and Ashley are unisex names. Op fair enough your children dont have tradional boy/girl names so Lilly would not fit however masculine names are not better names

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/09/2016 09:59

Joss is a unisex name. Robin is a unisex name. Devon is a unisex name. I know boys and girls with those names.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 06/09/2016 10:00

And anyway, OP was asking for masculine, not unisex.
