Thoughts on Dylan? Any good middle names?

Love it pronounced the Welsh way (Dull-ann)
Hate it pronounced the non-Welsh way (Dillon)

Ha Jemima, this the the problem DH (Welsh speaking Welsh man) and I (English woman) have. We had agreed on Dylan for a boy, but DH only likes the proper Welsh pronunciation and doesn't like that my English family and I (and most non Welsh speaking people I would have thought) aren't going to pronounce it the Welsh way!

Frazzled2207 · 03/09/2016 08:03

To me it should have the Welsh pronunciation which unfortunately won't work in England.
However I know a 3 yo (English) Dylan and it suits him beautifully.

Frazzled2207 · 03/09/2016 08:04

alpha we eventually agreed on Gethin for ours as it was the only welsh name which had the same pron. in English.

I'm not keen

I associate it with naughty children too I'm afraid! And it does seem quite dated now.

Ds has dylan as one of his middle names. We're huge bob Dylan fans hence the choice for us. I love it but wouldn't have used it as a first name just because it's popular.

i like Dylan, i think its a strong, but dreamy name that fits well on all ages :)

Daydreamer83 · 03/09/2016 15:04

Called my son Dylan as my maiden name is Dillon!

MrsBobDylan · 03/09/2016 16:25

We're also huge Bob Dylan fans and one of our ds' has Dylan as a middle name. I think it's a great nameGrin

I have a Dylan James. He's 11 and there were three Dylan's in his school year. Lovely name 😊

Heratnumber7 · 03/09/2016 17:10

I agree that it should be "Dull-on", but I'm Welsh too.
Everyone says Aberystwyth wrong too, in the same way.
