Hi, recently been looking on a name website, Denmark came up. I thought it was lovely! You could NN him Den/Denny/Mark. We are fans of place names, on our list:

  • Boston
  • Brooklyn
  • Cody
  • Devon
  • Lincoln
Thoughts?

Nonameyet1 · 01/09/2016 20:10

I like Devon (but only if you don't actually live in Devon) but not keen on the others (sorry!)

AnnaMarlowe · 01/09/2016 20:11

Have you been to Denmark?

Do you have a connection of some kind there?

Because if not this is an odd choice.

Which your DS will be saddled with explaining his whole life....

"you full name is Denmark how interesting are your family from there?"

"No"

"Do your parents have a connection with Denmark?"

"No"

"Were you perhaps conceived there?"

"No"

"Er, OK then...,"

Cynara · 01/09/2016 20:13

Are you heavily pregnant? I think it might be your hormones. I got a bit like this towards the end of my pregnancy and wanted to call my baby Evangelina Faith. (not as bad as Denmark, I grant you). Immediately after the birth I came to my senses, he was a boy and we called him James. Don't worry, you'll look back on this and laugh.

bearleftmonkeyright · 01/09/2016 20:14

There is an actor called Devon Bostick who was in Diary of a Wimpy Kid. He's Canadian. Cody is reasonably common in the US I think. But the others I'm not so keen on although I have heard of Brooklyn a couple of times but I'm not keen.

QueenLizIII · 01/09/2016 20:14

Copenhagen as a middle name. Grin

IBelieveTheEarthIsFlat · 01/09/2016 20:15

He would be known as Rotten

bibbitybobbityyhat · 01/09/2016 20:16

Just give him a name, not a place name.

Sleepybeanbump · 01/09/2016 20:16

MrsGsnow18 · 01/09/2016 20:17

Denmark is obviously the English name for the country, they call it Danmark I think.

I don't think it really works well as a name though, sorry OP.

bearleftmonkeyright · 01/09/2016 20:17

I'm wondering now if anyones ever called their kid Hamlet? Sorry to derail.

SanityClause · 01/09/2016 20:19

bearleftmonkeyright · 01/09/2016 20:21

Germany, nn Germy

Pinklily1 · 01/09/2016 20:22

It's awful.

Brooklyn just reminds me of the Beckham's, which isn't a good thing.

I'm not keen on Devon, and would also assume it was a girls name.

QueenLizIII · 01/09/2016 20:25

Someone must have called their child Hamlet.

Quick search of Genes Reunited...loads called their son Hamlet.

CaroleService · 01/09/2016 20:26

Dane instead??
