Thoughts on short lists (so far)

I'm only 18 weeks so no rush to decide but I keep looking at current short lists and not sure how we are going to decide so just thought I would get some other inputs (don't want to discuss with family/friends). Plus I don't really know which (if any) are super popular right now. I'm based in Yorkshire to give context to anyone in this area.

So for girls we have:
Ada
Elsie
Erin
Faye
Kate
May/Mae
Rose
Ruth

We clearly seem to like short girls names.

For boys we like mainly older names:

Arthur
Seb
Seth
Stanley
Franklin
Francis
William
Leonard

Any others names welcome!!

I love Elsie, though i do know 2 born this year. Erin and Kate are very pretty too.

I love Seth and William off your boys list. Although Arthur William does sound nice

pennyunwise · 22/08/2016 12:11

My faves are Ada, Erin, Seb[astian] and Seth.

Piniatapearl · 22/08/2016 13:07

Kate and may. Stanley and William.

SorenaJ · 22/08/2016 14:09

Arthur and William. Rose and Erin.

SprogletsMum · 22/08/2016 14:10

I love Elsie, it's my favourite name but our surname starts and ends with s and has an l in the middle so it just doesn't go.

DearMrDilkington · 22/08/2016 14:11

Rose and Leonard.

sleepyMe12 · 22/08/2016 14:14

I have an Erin :)

People always comment on how pretty it is.
I love the fact that she is the only girl in her school with it.

From the boys I like Francis.

CakeRattleandRoll · 22/08/2016 14:17

Elsie and Arthur are my favourites.

LondonGirl83 · 22/08/2016 15:34

Those are all good names. I don't like Kate but only because I don't like nicknames as given names (no offence). I'd always go with Catherine and then use Kate as a nickname so she had the choice later to be more or less formal in certain situations.

NoCapes · 22/08/2016 15:36

I like most of your girls names, particularly Ada & Erin

Don't like any of the boys names though tbh

Pemba · 22/08/2016 15:55

Rose or Ruth are nice. Kate is nice but prefer as a shortening for Katherine/Catherine.

And Seb[astian] for a boy, (has to be the full name!) or maybe Seth. William is nice too.

broodykg · 22/08/2016 16:05

No offence taken Londongirl83, everyone is entirely to their opinion hence me asking.

NoCapes I think the boys list will get more mixed reactions. I certainly know babies grandparents probably won't like them! Haha

Francis (Frank) and Leonard (Leo).

SantasLittleMonkeyButler · 23/08/2016 08:08

I like Erin, Faye, Ruth, Seb & Seth best from your lists.

I do like Arthur & William but know so many little ones at the moment that I'd go for something else.

Joinourclub · 23/08/2016 08:12

Lovely names! My top ones from your lists are Elsie and Francis (I like Frank/Frankie)
