Have always loved the name Jax for a boy? I'm 16 weeks pregnant so still unsure of the sex at present but we have definitely decided on a name for a girl but still pondering on the name Jax for a boy!

The middle name would be George.

I love it too. Guilty pleasures are the best Grin

Up your jacksie springs to mind which is Cockney rhyming slang for arse.

ClockMakerSue · 20/08/2016 01:56

OP, have you changed username mid way through this post? Confused me for a minute!

Some Jacquelines that I know are shortened to 'Jax'. As pp have said, Jax George doesn't flow well. I think two one syllable names together sound abrupt so would go for Jackson maybe.

It is slang for arse but it isn't Cockney rhyming slang for it.

TheDowagerCuntess · 20/08/2016 08:41

Jacksie for me, too. Sorry.

Jax George really isn't great. Loads of good alternatives on his thread, though.

TrappedNerve · 20/08/2016 10:10

I know a Jackson nn Jax and a baby who is actually called Jax, his mum picked the name as her other dc have unusual names and wanted to be different but I don't think it's as unusual as she thinks!
I quite like it, better than jack.
Don't think George goes with it though and I love the name.

It is according to: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=jacksie and septicscompanion.com/showcat.php?cat=thebody

Sgtmajormummy · 20/08/2016 17:28

I always thought the Irish use of "jax/Jack's" was similar to the American "the John/jaaahn" Blush.

coolpotato · 20/08/2016 17:34

Bloody awful. I wouldn't take anyone (or their parents) with a name like that seriously. Sorry but that's just my opinion.

JeanGenie23 · 20/08/2016 17:34

Jaxon is becoming very popular now, not my taste, very modern American but George is lovely, timeless

SoupDragon · 20/08/2016 20:26

Neither urban dictionary or the other one are what you would call reputable sources (which say it originated in the19th century from Jack)

AbyssinianBanana · 20/08/2016 20:51

Gah, Katie you're joking! Butchered spelling of Anastasia too?! I was going to name my daughter Anastasia. Then I met a "Stacci" type in secondary school and discovered Stacey was like totally like short for like Anastaaaaazia (pronounced in horrid American twang). Put me right off the name. Though I did use the proper nickname of Anastasia for a cat later in life - Nastia. That cat wasn't no Stacey.

KatieScarlettReregged2 · 21/08/2016 06:57

Aby I only wish I was joking Grin

pinkieandperkie · 21/08/2016 07:03

Jack is much nicer in my opinion, I like George

cheapandcheerful · 26/08/2016 23:20

I automatically thought 'Sons of Anarchy'...

Nataleejah · 29/08/2016 17:34

Arsehole character from SOA

user1467449426 · 31/08/2016 17:04

Not old enough to remember Ajax scourer, (ask your Gran!)

Mari50 · 01/09/2016 13:05

My neighbours dog is called jax. It's a horrible wee thing.
Jax George - nope.
I always try to envision these kids in professional jobs introducing themselves.

Idliketobeabutterfly · 01/09/2016 13:13

Lol pretty sure I've read a book with that as a heros name recently

crje · 01/09/2016 13:25

Jax is slang for toilet
Jaxie slang for arse

So for those reasons I'm a no

jellybeans · 01/09/2016 18:04

I don't mind it. Will it be Jaxon?
Reminds me of the main charecter in Son's of Anarchy.

NEW123MUM · 14/11/2019 20:05

I love the name and am going to be calling my son Jax too. We have had some negative comments about it but we didn't want a really common name like Jack (although it's a lovely name) I really like George too but agree it should probably have a name in between as Jax George is a bit tricky to say. Then again, if you like it, go for it, as most people have said, middle names are hardly used anyway!

user1493494961 · 14/11/2019 20:23

This is a zombie thread. I would say that Jax is 'common' too, but not in the way you mean.

MikeUniformMike · 14/11/2019 20:26

I'd kick that one up the jaxy

MissHenty · 14/11/2019 21:37

Ah lovely name @NEW123MUM ❤️ Excellent choice. This is a zombie thread though! Very old
