Have always loved the name Jax for a boy? I'm 16 weeks pregnant so still unsure of the sex at present but we have definitely decided on a name for a girl but still pondering on the name Jax for a boy!

The middle name would be George.

Thoughts pleaseSmile

Hello, OP, just drawing your attention to another thread tonight -- 'names you hate' . It may have appeared on there....

RonaldMcDonald · 18/08/2016 01:19

Like Jax from Sons of Anarchy?
No

NickiFury · 18/08/2016 01:32

My friends son is called Jaxon. It really suits him. He's Canadian though and somehow it seems less remarkable than if it were used here.

OlennasWimple · 18/08/2016 01:37

Ajax used to be a cleaner, but is also a name from Greek mythology

MrsGsnow18 · 18/08/2016 09:16

I really had never heard it used for toilet.
I have heard of people calling the toilet 'the john' but not actually in real life just T.V.
I'm sure very few people naming their children John though would even give this a second thought though.

Sunbeam18 · 18/08/2016 09:20

Sounds like a floor cleaning product

Only1scoop · 18/08/2016 09:22

Sound awful together.

Jax seems popular since certain American tv shows.

Puts me off

firsttimer91 · 18/08/2016 09:50

I have literally never heard it meaning the toilet? I'm based in the UK and although yes I'm now aware it's from Sons of Anarchy that's not where I heard it from. George was the chosen second name as opposed to the first as its my brothers name. Thanks for your replies and opinions, I however, do still love the name Jax Smile

MephistoMarley · 18/08/2016 10:02

Jax is so so bad. Jackson nn Jax would be just about ok

AbyssinianBanana · 18/08/2016 10:04

Well "Jaxie" made it pat to censors in both UK and US when this Real Housewife of New York kept referring to her son Jax by that nickname.

That said, another real housewives spin off, Vanderpump Rules, had a "character" Jax. Which sounded totally made up, like the "character" Stacci (staaaa-si) which was just a stupid way of mispronouncing Stacie.

Turns out his name was made up. He thought it sounded cooler for Hollywood that being a plain Jason

MrsNuckyThompson · 18/08/2016 10:06

I think it's pretty grim as a name on its own. Would you consider calling him Jackson (at least a 'proper' name) and then nn Jax?

heatherwithapee · 18/08/2016 10:13

I know a Jax. She's a 40-something female (real name Jacqui). I don't like it. Sorry.

firsttimer91 · 18/08/2016 11:16

I don't particularly like the name Jackson and doubt my other half would either. I know it's not considered as a 'real' name but for some reason I just love it Smile

wesH · 18/08/2016 11:21

It's bad, my friend.

TheRealAdaLovelace · 18/08/2016 13:00

it is very bad...
let's see we have 'the jacks' meaning the loo in Dublinese
we have 'up ur Jacksie' if you are from London.
and finally 'jacks off' (USA)
and you are really thinking of calling your child this dreadful name?

Shinyshoes2 · 18/08/2016 13:16

I like it
Jax tellar from Sons of Anarchy
Jax George ? No , it Dosent flow

GillBear · 18/08/2016 15:10

Sons of anarchy was my first thought...

LoraLoves · 18/08/2016 16:30

Jax is our dogs name

KatieScarlettReregged2 · 18/08/2016 18:08

I hate myself for knowing this but the fragrant Stassi of Vanderpump Ruled was christened Nastassia not Stacie.
(Takes the shame)

Sgtmajormummy · 18/08/2016 18:13

Irish slang for Toilet (men's, pub, of the worst smelly type). Like PP said.

Cantgetmyoldnameback · 18/08/2016 18:23

Sorry, but I hate the name. Why not go for Jack, or Max?

Oh and I'm English, never lived in Ireland, but have worked with a lot of Irish people in the past - and I knew that 'the jacks' = 'the toilets' in at least parts of Ireland.

SpidersFromMars · 18/08/2016 18:25

Jackson George, with a nn Jax, flows much better.

AmyC86 · 18/08/2016 18:34

Totally agree, far too much Sons of Anarchy!

firsttimer91 · 18/08/2016 20:04

Because I don't like the name jack or max :-) each to their own I suppose! It's not definitely set in stone I have other names in mind X

WowserBowser · 18/08/2016 23:06

I love Vanderpump rules.

Katie and Tom got married today.
