It makes me think of "Sayonara" for some reason. I'm just not sure about it. It's the first time I've heard that name.

Sophronia · 15/08/2016 17:58

It makes me think of sonar. I prefer the Cornish name Senara.

EssentialHummus · 15/08/2016 18:04

I don't like it at all. Serena?

eyebrowsonfleek · 15/08/2016 18:08

I've not heard of the name but it made me think of Samara from The Ring Confused then the word Sonar (the latter obviously isnt scary)

Shockers · 15/08/2016 18:09

I know an adult Sonara. She's very cool and her name suits her.

PurpleDaisies · 15/08/2016 18:11

I'm not a fan. It sounds like a medicine to me, maybe one for insomnia.

Your niece isn't a mumsnetter is she? I'm guessing she's going to recognise that you've posted about her name choice if she is on here...

Kennington · 15/08/2016 18:21

I read it as sonar - a. It takes a bit of getting used to and unless it means something interesting in another language I wouldn't go there. It sounds awkward to the ear.

My first thought too was sayonara which isn't the best IMO.

villainousbroodmare · 15/08/2016 20:42

Sounds like a brand of headphones or a medication for travel sickness or something.

GillBear · 15/08/2016 21:23

It sounds like an anti-snoring aid/medication

spacefrog35 · 15/08/2016 21:27

Doctor Who for me as well

Heratnumber7 · 15/08/2016 21:27

Awful

I best mention she's not a mumsnetter and I think a MUCH prettier Irish name is the front runner. (MUCH looks wrong in capitals for some reason)

LunaLoveg00d · 15/08/2016 23:26

Sounds like a make of car. "The new Toyota Sonara, fuel efficient etc etc"

NappingRabbit · 16/08/2016 08:22

I also thought headphones or a contraceptive pill. Sorry, not my thing.

Hersetta427 · 16/08/2016 08:31

No verging on hating it., sounds like a made up name for medication.

FoofFighter · 16/08/2016 08:32

There's a Senara I know, very pretty name and prefer < this spelling to Sonara
