Love Elijah but dislike Eli....

How else could it be shortened without sounding silly?

If you hate the accepted abbreviation I would not pick the name. You can't decide how others abbreviate a name and they will definitely go for the obvious one regardless of what you might choose. I vetoed Alexander for that reason. Loved the full name, didn't like the nn, and I knew that's all u would ever hear.

I don't know anyone who shortens Elijah if that helps!

Northernlight22 · 12/08/2016 09:01

Eli is the only one I know

We tend with Lijah, so not much shortening. Only one person has ever called mine Eli, and has pretty much stopped as it's obvious no one else does.

Elle
Eli
Liya

My son occasionally get 'E' or 'EJ" (his initials), but mostly a mix of Elijah and Eli (which we like, so no prob). I wouldn't choose it if you really can't bear Eli.

I know one who gets called Lij (pronounced Lige)

midsomermurderess · 13/08/2016 14:59

Jiah.

augustusdecimus · 13/08/2016 15:58

Eli

....And....

Eli

I also know an Elijah who goes by Lij- pronounced like 'Liege' and it sounds pretty cool lol.
