Love Matilda for DC2 but struggling with a middle name.
DD is Phoebe Rose which always just sounded 'right'.
Matilda is a family name so don't want to go for a family name as a middle name.
Any ideas?
So far I quite like...
Matilda Fern
Matilda Eve

Matilda Eve doesn't work imo, because of the the two vowel sounds.
One syllable is good, though, and will match her sister:
Matilda Jane
Matilda Jean
Matilda Claire
Matilda Grace
Matilda May
Matilda Faith
Matilda Wren
Matilda Kate
Matilda Paige

Some other ideas:
Matilda Louise
Matilda Sophie
Matilda Charlotte
Matilda Celine
Matilda Charlene

Actually, any name that you like will be fine.

Matilda Hermion
Matilda Sunset

Although, I'd avoid another name beginning with M:
Matilda Moon sounds silly.

And avoid names ending in A;
Matilda Tabitha
Matilda Julia

But then again, your child, your rules.

I also thought Matilda Grace would be a good match for her sister. What about other floral names - Poppy, Ivy, Heather, Lily, Jasmine...

Horseshoe1 · 10/08/2016 08:55

Matilda Grace sounds lovely.
Matilda Kate
Matilda Niamh
Matilda Wren
Matilda Lark
Matilda Willow
Matilda Ruth

Spottyladybird · 10/08/2016 09:26

I like other floral/nature names so some good ideas. Not sure Lily wound work if she gets the nn Tilly.

Our surname begins with A so yes, nothing with an A sound at the end.

I don't like names which are qualities so no Grace, Joy, Hope etc.

Some great ideas though so thanks and keep them coming.

Why have a middle name that means nothing? They aren't used day to day so are normal used to name a baby after a relative or close friend.

Spottyladybird · 10/08/2016 16:23

I didn't ask for opinions on whether I should use a middle name. Its traditional in our family to have a middle name and I like the rhythmic nature of it.

Thanks for all the suggestions- lots to consider.

I didn't say why are you having a middle name , I asked why are you having a meaningless one?
Middle names are never spoken out load except at a Christening so using it because it sounds nice is pointless.

Spottyladybird · 10/08/2016 20:39

Really no need to be rude though. Why would you come on a thread about middle names and say that you think I'm wrong.
I actually use my daughters middle name all the time and was just after some ideas, as this is a baby names thread.

OP posts:
Spottyladybird · 10/08/2016 20:40

And just because it's not a family name doesn't make it meaningless.

OP posts:
cornishglos · 10/08/2016 23:37

I don't think they were being rude.

AndNowItsSeven · 11/08/2016 00:12

I meant meaningless as in it doesn't have a significant meaning.
You are taking my comments far to sensitively.
I was simply curious as to why you were having a middle name, if you don't have a specific one picked out because it means something to you.
At no point did I say you were wrong either.
