I know this is a bit of a marmite name, but we like it and it's on our list.
I am worried about potential nicknames though.
Obviously don't want 'Bry'!
What else might Bryony be shortened to?

Thanks

Ronnie?

I often just get 'B'.

Got Brian a lot at school Hmm

I like it. To be honest you don't have to shorten it really. I have an Isabella. I thought it would be shortened to Bella but I never actually have. Always used her full name and everyone kind of went with it. She corrects people that call her izzy or Bella as well lol.

Bryony is a beautiful name. I wouldn't worry about nicknames. My nickname has absolutely nothing to do with my given name. I was at school with a Tadpole, a Slug, and Gog!

Thanks.
Not looking for a nickname as such, but people automatically just try to shorten names.
It's a difficult one, I love the name, but wouldn't want her called Bryan!

Lovely name. I know lots of people whose names could easily be shortened but aren't. No reason to think it's inevitable.

Thanks.
We like it, but it's so hard to decide!

I really like it.

What's wrong with Bry as a nn?

Or nn could be unrelated. My two DDs have nns based on what we called them while in the womb... nothing to do with their actual names.

midsomermurderess · 11/08/2016 20:40

I knew one at university who sometimes got called biryani.

I love it! I knew one at school and she never had a nn. She was always Bryony.
