Vi-o-let. 3 syllables.

SoupDragon · 08/08/2016 17:23

So, you mean 2 or 3 syllables? :) I was trying to work out how to say it with one!

2 for me, although with a hint of that middle o

nopety · 08/08/2016 17:24

Oops! I meant 2 or 3 Grin

3 but the middle one very soft/slight. Lovely name!

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 08/08/2016 17:26

2 for me.

babyblabber · 08/08/2016 18:09
  1. Vi-let?!!!
MrsGsnow18 · 08/08/2016 18:42

I say Vio-let rather than a big emphasis on Three separate parts Vi-o-let. I def hear the o when I say it.

JeSuisLeLoup · 08/08/2016 18:44

3

AmysTiara · 08/08/2016 18:49

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 08/08/2016 20:05

3 but, like a pp, the middle o sound is very short when I say it.

Smartiepants79 · 08/08/2016 20:08

3 vi-o-let.

Smartiepants79 · 08/08/2016 20:09

Try and clap it. You can't do it with 2 beats.

3, of course.

It would drive me nuts if people said Vi-let.

NataliaOsipova · 08/08/2016 20:17

3 - definitely!

orangebird69 · 08/08/2016 20:18

Er, 3. Hmm

RoganJosh · 08/08/2016 20:21

I hear people saying Vi-let. I'm not sure what I'd do.

ErrolTheDragon · 08/08/2016 20:31

I thought, of course it's 3, lovely fragrant vi-o-let, vile-let would be horrid ... But then realised the latter is how it's often said.

Similar name without this issue, unambiguously 3 syllables, Viola ?

maggiethemagpie · 08/08/2016 20:52

Three syllables, I pronounce it vi-a-lut

WanderingTrolley1 · 08/08/2016 20:55
  1. Vile-lut
marmitecrumpets · 08/08/2016 21:03

2

WaitrosePigeon · 08/08/2016 21:25

Vi-let

Love it!

villainousbroodmare · 08/08/2016 21:35

Three.
I would hate it spoken with two.
I think I'd go with Viola to ensure the three syllables! Grin

Sandsnake · 08/08/2016 21:53

3

QuinionsRainbow · 08/08/2016 22:38

My Mum was Vi-o-let: definitely three syllables.
