I like this, my first thought is the Opera but OH said 'Carmen Electra?'

What do you think?

I haven't heard of Carmen Electra before (just looked her up).

Elektra is an opera too Smile

Carmen makes me think of "car" and "men" put together.

It's quite a nice name and not overused.

MelCookie · 08/08/2016 13:36

Really lovely name!

DIYTopTits · 08/08/2016 13:39

I like that. People will always jump to something unless it's a completely out there name. There may even be others than just those two.

As a child I was always asked if I was named after a specific celebrity. Not always the same one. My name isn't uncommon though. Don't let it put you off. It's a beautiful name. Smile

Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?

shartsi · 08/08/2016 14:06

I love it. It is my DDs name. It was the only name my DH and I liked also on our first date we watched Carmen the opera. DD is the only carmen in her school.

Flippertygib · 08/08/2016 14:07

Reminds me of The Sopranos.

Flippertygib · 08/08/2016 14:07

...or rollers

gunsandbanjos · 08/08/2016 20:11

I like it, I used to work with a lovely Australian lady called Carmen.

Madbengalmum · 08/08/2016 20:14

Soprano or Miranda?
No, just no.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 08/08/2016 20:21

Really wanted a kid called this when I was little! Sounded so exotic. Still love it but think it would be ridiculous on my spawn who are as fair as snow.

TheNaze73 · 08/08/2016 20:23

Love Carmen, thought of the opera

AntiqueSinger · 08/08/2016 20:25

Carmen is a beautiful name.

barnet · 08/08/2016 20:26

Beautiful name.
Would have to be dark haired though.

Sierra259 · 08/08/2016 20:27

Opera would be my first thought. A friend of mine has a baby Carmen - lovely classy name

candykane25 · 08/08/2016 20:27

I like Carmine for a boy so it sounds good to me.

Alisvolatpropiis · 08/08/2016 20:30

I really like it.

Scuttle22 · 08/08/2016 20:31

Carmen Electric here too. Didn't Prince go out with her and make the name up for her too.

ohidoliketobe · 08/08/2016 20:34

I thought Carmen Miranda! I-yi-yi-yi-yi-I like you verrrrry much.
Love her though so not necessarily a bad thing!

SleepyRoo · 08/08/2016 20:39

Like. There was a fabulous - and v fair skinned blonde - supermodel called Carmen Kass.

AbernathysFringe · 19/09/2016 01:25

My DD is Carmen. She's white blonde and blue eyed. It works internationally. It was about the name meaning (song, garden) for me plus family connections with singing, plus the opera, plus I grew up in the era of Carmen Electra so it was associated with attractiveness to me. It seemed womanly and strong, not a cutesy pie dog type name. And everyone can spell it, unlike my name. Only negatives we've had are people saying 'Carmel? Karma?' so now we just say 'like the opera' and it's fine.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 19/09/2016 14:09

Lovely OP.

Nonameyet1 · 19/09/2016 16:13

Carmen is gorgeous and I only think of the musical!

Honeybee79 · 20/09/2016 10:43

Great name.

katemess12 · 20/09/2016 11:09

Sounds too much like "karma" for me. I know a few Carmens and even more Carmels and I've never been able to warm to this name.
