Aurelia or Fleur?

Hello everyone!
I know I posted a longer list of names not too long ago, but we have narrowed the list down even more. And we're in a bit of a hurry and have no clue which name to use... we love both. Here they are:

Fleur
Aurelia

DH is French so a French name would be nice, but is not necessary. We already have two boys, Ezra and Sacha. Our last name is the same as a French sparkling water.
Middle name combinations will be Fleur Aurelia or Aurelia Mirielle (Aurelia and Mirielle are both family names).

Thoughts? Smile

I like both, so not much help, sorry!

I guess you might get pronunciation problems with Aurelia - some might say AuREElia and some AuRAYlia?

Thomasisintraining · 27/07/2016 17:33

Aurelia I love it. Fleur not for me.

AspiringMother · 27/07/2016 18:06

Aurelia

Footle · 27/07/2016 18:09

Is that your phone spelling Mireille incorrectly ? Afaik Mirielle isn't a normal name.

MrsCaecilius · 27/07/2016 18:09

Love Aurelia!

Fluer is pretty, but could sound a bit bland with a single syllable surname. So Fleur MacDonald is lovely; Fleur Smith, not so much.

(I've got a one syllable name and am marrying a one syllable surname. I'm goi g to sound like a very dull person...)

bananafish · 27/07/2016 18:10

Aurelia is lovely. I would say that, though, as I have an Aurélien Grin

Also Fleur can sound horrid in some English accents; just a thought...

Ward3new · 27/07/2016 18:24

footle : No, Mirielle is the correct spelling in this case. It's my cousin's name. Long story short, my aunt loved Mireille but wanted to make it pronounceable here in the US, so she changed the spelling. They are pronounced the same Blush

bananafish: We live in the US (NYC - though may end up in France at some point) so not too concerned about English accents. Thanks for the heads up though!

Mireille is pronounced Mirray in French. Mirielle is pretty too.

Ward3new · 27/07/2016 20:12

footle: aah should have checked first! I've always just listened to my aunt and never bothered to actually check the pronunciation of Mireille. Blush In all honesty, thanks for telling me before I make that mistake again!

Love Aurelia (love Love Actually)

Do you have another boy's name, just in cases? Wink

RiverTam · 27/07/2016 20:32

Aurelia. Fleur just sounds so bleurgh.

Ipanema01 · 27/07/2016 21:44

Love Aurelia, somuch lovelier!

MrsSparkles · 27/07/2016 22:28

Aurelia, but I may be biased! We've had lots of lovely comments about how unusual it is. I also have a French surname and it goes really well.

marblestatue · 27/07/2016 23:48

Aurelia

WanderingNotLost · 28/07/2016 02:10

Another vote for Aurelia. I might chuck an accent over the e if you do want the Au-ray-lia pronunciation

Aurelia is stunning! Fleur is nice, but I actually think all British accents murder it. It's definitely better in a generic American accent, but then imagine it said in a proper "Noo Yoik" accent, and

Raines100 · 28/07/2016 06:09

Oops! Well, I think you can see where that was going. I vote Aurelia!

Footle · 28/07/2016 06:43

Have a lovely baby !
