Looking for a muslim name for my daughter. we live in London, originally from India so was thinking of an english sounding muslim name. The english version is spelt Serena (as the famous tennis player) but I saw some Asian kids names as Sarina/Sareena

Naming her Serena will probably mean inspired by the tennis player ( i think) so was wondering what you all think if i spelt her name as Sareena (Its pronounced the same as Serena, something you cannot get with Sarina as that can be pronounced differently)

I like it, good choice. Have also seen it spelled Zareena which is nice too.

I prefer the Serena spelling - I wouldn't think you were inspired by the tennis player!

If you google Sareena it brings up some sexy video game character. Not sure if she or the game she's from are particularly well known. Just something to be aware of.

I do prefer the name Serena, because it reminds me of 'serene'. And because I love Ms Williams!

It's ok. Doesn't ring my bell or put me off. Middle of the roady. If you like it you should certainly use it.

I love Serena it sounds elegant

I love Serena/ Sareena, but prefer Serena as it makes me think 'Serene' or even of a little mermaid due to the Spanish.

It's a nice name. I like the traditional Serena spelling. I also like the Sarina spelling but it might be mispronounced Sah-reena.

I also like Zara/Zhara.

Thanks all for your replies. The theme seems to be a preference for Serena although Sareena is not frowned upon or anything. As someome said above, I also did notice that Sareena was a sexy character in a not very well known game so not too sure what to think of that.

I think Serena is a great name. My only reservation with Sareena is the spelling. It will be constantly misspelled and personally I'd find that inconvenient.
