We have boys names lined up, but girls are so hard. We like good strong names and names that are not too common. So far we have but are not sold on;

Annie
Mathilda
Esther
Jocelyn
Evelyn
Ottilie
Eliza
Violet

Should also add Lavinia was on the list but totally hate the idea of 'Lav' for a Nickname!

Rachel

Katiekins86 · 25/07/2016 23:37

Not keen on Rachel but do like Audrey, it's been swimming in my head but I've never really seriously thought of it before now. Does it sound too old lady or prude?

SuckingEggs · 25/07/2016 23:40

How about Elizabeth and use Eliza as the nickname. Just called my baby girl Elizabeth but we use Beth for short. Wanted a good strong name too

winewolfhowls · 26/07/2016 07:26

I like lavinia. Could the nn be nia?

Liz09 · 26/07/2016 07:28

I like Annie, Mathilda (spelt Matilda though, as no one is going to remember the H) and Violet.

Katiekins86 · 26/07/2016 13:04

Oh wow Elspeth. Love that name! Thank you.

Love Alexandra too but can't use it have a young brother called Alex.

Elizabeth would have been great both of us love the name but we lost a friend called John whilst I was pregnant and his daughter is an Elizabeth. Feels a bit odd to use both names iyswim

We have a Jonathan (great choice!) and if we'd had a girl names we liked were:

Elizabeth
Abigail
Esther
Cordelia
Penelope
Sylvia

Matilda is lovely but I know quite a few little Matildas now - think it's on the rise.

Also a bit out there but I heard a little Marnie the other day and it really struck me as a lovely name!

I really like the Audrey suggestion. Sylvia is a great name too. We've chosen Madeline if we were to have a little girl. Smile

AspiringMother · 26/07/2016 20:04

Oh and Penelope is a great choice too!

CakeRattleandRoll · 27/07/2016 02:53

Elspeth is the Scottish form of Elizabeth, so that may be a way around that issue? It is one of my favourite names, too.
