I suppose it's not horrible, but it does seem a bit middle aged American.

Also makes me think of Marvin the Magician (was that a character in something or a range of toys) and possibly a cartoon mouse?

BoBo90 · 18/07/2016 17:01

Not a name I would pick. Makes me thing of Marvin the paranoid android and you don't want that connection!

scurryfunge · 18/07/2016 17:02

I came on to say the paranoid android too

PotteringAlong · 18/07/2016 17:06

No

sonlypuppyfat · 18/07/2016 18:08

Here I am, brain the size of a planet with a daft name

Wolfiefan · 18/07/2016 18:11

Yep paranoid android here too!

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 18/07/2016 19:51

I dislike it quite strongly (sorry). It's just an unpleasant sound IMHO. Where I live (SE England) it would sound even more horrid I think.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 18/07/2016 19:54

Not good.

marblestatue · 18/07/2016 19:56

I'd associate it with names like Kevin, Brian, Keith. But I don't think younger people will, so why not?

ChampagneCommunist · 18/07/2016 19:59

No

EmpressOfTheVaginaDentata · 18/07/2016 20:02

Paranoid Android here too, sorry.

Georgiesgirl · 18/07/2016 20:06

And Starvin' Marvin from Sourh Park

DreamingofItaly · 18/07/2016 20:08

I think of Marvin Gaye. It's a cool name in my opinion but that could be because I've just caught up on series 2 of Ray Donovan and there was a musician lad on there called Marvin, the name really suited him.

Raines100 · 18/07/2016 20:25

I'm Hank Marvin CakeChocolateBiscuit

Mclaren37 · 19/07/2016 07:08

I just saw a whole bunch of responses on here to Merlin and Casper - as very acceptable and 'quite cool'. But Marvin is a no? Well Marvin is much better than both IMO. I know a fairly cool Marv (friend's husband), so I am swayed.

Liz09 · 19/07/2016 08:13

I like it.

Reminds me of Marvin McFadden from One Tree Hill. That boy was a gem.

Otherwise, Marvin the Martian, but who cares? That's hardly a bad association.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 19/07/2016 13:31

Haha mclaren, Caspar is one of my all time favourite boy names! Do you not think it is acceptable then? Quite funny how different people's views on names can be. It's really quite a well used name where I live, not overused but I know a few.

Merlin is a bit more marmite I guess but I do know of one baby called Merlin and nobody finds it that strange.

Wordsaremything · 20/07/2016 00:05

Fabulous- go for it.
Nn Marvy or Vinny.
It can also be used for q girl Marvyn or Marveen.
