DH and I can't agree on a name for dc2 due in early Nov. I'd like to call him Theo, but DH doesn't like the root being God - we're atheists. The only boy's name he has suggested is Leon, which I don't love, and I have a cousin with that name. Also, DC1's name starts with Le. I like many names ending in 'o', especially 'eo'. I'm looking for suggestions of names to put tomDH that he might like!

Came on here to suggest Matteo. It's gorgeous!

Bit of a rant here, so no offence intended to you OP, but I just can't understand that sort of reasoning for not choosing a name. I've heard people give the same reason for not choosing classical biblical names.

I'm giving my son a biblical name, and the fact that I'm an atheist has zero effect on my love of the name! If you're an atheist (or your husband is) then why do/does you/he care in the slightest if the name has a slightly religious root meaning? If you love the name, who cares?? Just bizarre in my opinion.

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 18/07/2016 08:23

Because only Christians use biblical or religious names... Hmm to your DH. My brother is the same. He vetoed all biblical / religious names, and any with any connection to the British Royal family (I bet the queen was gutted, he really stuck it to the man there Hmm).

I'm a Christian and I didn't choose a biblical name for DD. I don't even know what her name means actually Shock. Do I have to become an atheist now? Grin

SteviebunsBottrittrundle · 18/07/2016 08:24

Should obviously have said religious people rather than Christians^^

icklekid · 18/07/2016 08:26

I once worked for an Italian family with 2 little boys called Sergio and Duccio - obviously not eo but same sound. Perhaps look at italian names!

Thewolfsjustapuppy · 18/07/2016 08:44

I'm not Jewish but DS has a Jewish name. I just love the name.

caju · 18/07/2016 11:59

Yeah I looked at a lot of Jewish names too. I've no connection to Judaism whatsoever but they have a lot of cool names!

Also love Matteo

Bit of a long shot, Christiano?

YourNewspaperIsShit · 19/07/2016 19:29

Love love Matteo, considering it as one of my top 3 for the next DC if he's a boy but want to see if it shoots up in popularity first because of Jane The Virgin the TV show Blush
