Not in the circles I move in I'm afraid, no. Sorry op.

SweetChickadee · 30/06/2016 16:30

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/06/2016 16:30

No way!

BettyOBarley · 30/06/2016 16:31

Nooooooooo!! Sorry.

Vixxfacee · 30/06/2016 16:34

I'm a BIG Elton Welsby fan, so I say go for it.

Beanzmeanzcoffee · 30/06/2016 17:37

No

SweetieDrops · 30/06/2016 17:37

Well Elton from clueless wasn't a very nice character.

Sabistick · 30/06/2016 17:39

Go for your second choice.

Beanzmeanzcoffee · 30/06/2016 17:39

Just realised that sounded like I was saying no, it isn't unusable. In reality Elton will instantly make 99% of people think of Elton John. Rightly or wrongly I think it would set him up for a lifetime of teasing.

Raines100 · 30/06/2016 18:15

I think it's a bit like Elvis or Madonna or Jesus. There's only one Elton.

Sophronia · 30/06/2016 18:29

How about Alton, Alvin, Albin or Ellis instead?

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 20:29

Nooooooooo!! Sorry.

...........seems to beeeee the hardest word.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 20:31

OP imagine how boring it would be to be asked 'oh were your parents big Elton John fans?' 70 million times.

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 30/06/2016 20:55

I LOVE an unusual name and this is my first ever DEAR GOD NO on Mumsnet! Sorry.

peppercold · 30/06/2016 21:00

You could call him Benny or Daniel Wink

IoraRua · 01/07/2016 13:26

Dear holy jaysus and mary, no. It's like naming a baby Shakira. Setting him up for endless renditions of Candle in the Wind there

Eldar is lovely though and not too far off it.

1horatio · 01/07/2016 13:50

It's a bit like naming a kid Madonna...

And what if the LO doesn't even end up liking the singer?

I personally would not do it. Unless this is truly the only name you can agree on. But there are worse names...

TooTweeOrNotTooTwee · 01/07/2016 13:53

Surprisingly, it is quite a popular boys name in Sweden at the moment irrelevant fact

NataliaOsipova · 01/07/2016 13:56

My friend called her baby bump Elton. And another called hers Luke Skywalker. Neither is really a good name for a child....sorry!

DerelictMyBalls · 01/07/2016 19:07

How about Elroy?

Ankleswingers · 01/07/2016 19:10

Never. Ever. Not in a million years.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 01/07/2016 19:11

The only association I have with this is Elton John

MitzyLeFrouf · 01/07/2016 20:01

There's Mr Elton from Jane Austen's Emma but he's an utter tit.
