Sister for Indigo

Just found out we're having another girl and we're struggling with names. So far we like Nyx and Muse.
I also quite like the idea of a Scottish name but it's not a must. Any ideas?

Astrid
Violet
Ivy

ItchyFoot · 27/06/2016 10:23

Violet would have been my first choice for dd1 but dp says it's an old lady name. I also really like Astrid but he's not too sure. He's the awkward one honest!

Also what do people think on Nyx and Muse?

OP posts:
PatriciaHolm · 27/06/2016 10:35

I don't think either of them work as a child's name to be honest. Nyx will spend her life saying "no, not Nix...". Muse has a nicer meaning but everyone will presume she's named after the band!

PatriciaHolm · 27/06/2016 10:36

If not violet, how about Viola?

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 27/06/2016 10:43

Yes to Viola! That's a lovely alternative to Violet.

CourtJester · 27/06/2016 10:43

I agree with Patricia regarding Nyx and Muse. I'm not really keen of either.

Indigo and Zola
Indigo and Lux
Indigo and Nyla
Indigo and Nala
Indigo and Harper
Indigo and Astra
Indigo and Aster
Indigo and Katya
Indigo and Ember
Indigo and Taia
Indigo and Tatiana
Indigo and Jana

ItchyFoot · 27/06/2016 10:44

Not a fan of Viola. Nyx is the one I'm more unsure of. Not too bothered if people think Muse is for the band. Indigo is named after a song by Pucifer.

I like Lux and Ember. Would she forever be saying no not Amber?

OP posts:
CourtJester · 27/06/2016 10:56

Itchy she might get the problem with Ember/Amber, but their are about a million Amelia/Emilia's having the same problem right now, so i don't imagine it to be too bad

MidnightVelvetthe5th · 27/06/2016 10:58

First association with Lux is soap. I don't like it. It then makes me think of dreadful gold lame cardigans that I once saw described in a magazine as lux, but this is very specific to me :) only other associations are looks/lucks which have no significance to me here.

First association of Muse is obviously the nine Muses of Greek/Roman mythology, also the band, also a street name if spelt Mews. The sound a cat makes. The verb to muse (upon something), meaning to think.

Ember is OK but more of a middle name to me.

Ambivalent on Nyx, you run the risk of people presuming its short for Nicola. Also the chance of knickers based nicknames through school.

With Indigo I like Anouk, Willow, Esme, Fleur. Any colour name, and any nature/hippy name.

ItchyFoot · 27/06/2016 11:03

I really like Anouk

Raines100 · 27/06/2016 11:22

Indigo is lovely.
Never heard of Nyx. Where does it come from?
Not keen on the sound of Muse. When read, I think of Ancient Greece. When said, I think of a kitten crying or a block of flats Grin
Like the alternative style, though.

Anouk is great with Indigo.
What about Clio, Thalia or Calliope?

Raines100 · 27/06/2016 11:26

Ah, Nyx is a Greek goddess, too, I see.
And here I thought you were channeling Stevie...

ItchyFoot · 27/06/2016 14:02

Yes Nyx like the goddess. Dp doesn't like Anouk apparently. We had this problem last time!

Pinklily1 · 27/06/2016 20:35

Itchy, Ember is lovely. My personal favourite of your possibilities.

areyoubeingserviced · 27/06/2016 20:35

Allegra

1horatio · 27/06/2016 20:37

Aglaia? One of the Graces. It's mythological but imo much nicer than Nyx. (which, btw, means nothing in German, it's spelled differently but pronounced exactly the same way).

Juno would be very lovely, imo! It's also the name of a Goddess. Plus, Junoband Indigo just go together without being matchy...

Or maybe Annika?

BikeRunSki · 27/06/2016 20:39
