Hello,
I'm currently expecting for September and my partner and I have decided on the name, Adelyn.
We have two choices for middle name which are both sentimental names of parents/grandparents.
Choices are:
Adelyn Valerie
Adelyn Rosemary

I personally prefer Valerie and he Rosemary, but wanted others opinions before make a decision!

Thanks in advance guys!

Are you American?
The first name sounds like an Americany type name like emersyn, Jordyn or kinley.

Valerie flows better. I think it's gorgeous!

Rosemary

Valerie.

My DM is Valerie Rosemary Grin she hates Valerie, but is neither enamoured with Rosemary either. I personally love Rosalie that is sort of an amalgamation of the two?

Artandco · 20/06/2016 18:25

Adelyn?

Could you consider Adeline instead? Otherwise it will always be spelt wrong and probably pronounced differently

Adelyn - ad-lyn
Adeline -Adda- line

Adeline Rosemary Valerie. Use both

BendydickCuminsnatch · 20/06/2016 18:25

Valerie for sure!!

pinocchiosnose · 20/06/2016 18:25

Is the first name to be pronounced add-lin? If so, then Rosemary is better.

If the first name is to be pronounced Adeline, then neither goes particularly well. It is sounds awful to have two three syllable names together.

If it is to be pronounced Adeline, please oh please spell it properly - you will be cursing your child with a dyslexic spelling of her name.

nectarini1983 · 21/06/2016 13:30

Adelyn sounds like Madeleine missing a first letter and I suspect that would become the bain of her life correcting people. Not keen on either middle name option either, sorry.

Tiggeryoubastard · 21/06/2016 13:36

Adelyn is hideous. It sounds like a medicine for something iffy.

CourtJester · 21/06/2016 16:35

I agree on the first name front - I initially pronounced it add-eh-lin, but i have never heard of it, then i though Ade(as in Adrian)-lin, but i had never heard of that either. So then i thought add-eh-line which i have heard of and i do like, i would spell it Adeline (I personally would never get add-lin/add-line as pp are saying)

I'm not keen on either middle name tbh, they seem a bit old and fusty in my opinion... i would go for something like...

Adelyn (add-eh-lin) Olivia
Adelyn (ade-lin) Ellen
Adeline (add-eh-line) Matilda

Rosemary would be lovely as long as your surname is not Smith - or indeed any other name beginning with S Grin
