I really like them! But, the ones I can think of have to many fault, despite my love for them.

Piers - reminds me too much of Piers Morgan

Rupert - Reminds me of Rupert the bear, plus, you can only shorten it to Roo!

Any ideas?

P.S, please not Tarquin

Sorry Help for Heroes

CheerfulYank · 12/06/2016 08:16

I know it's a boy's name there, I just meant here in the US both Aubrey and Bryn/n are exclusively used for girls. :)

nuttymango · 12/06/2016 08:19

Marmaduke

The poshest people I know have completely normal names Smile

Have a look on the Eton website. They probably have some Alumnus lists with some fab names...

BikeRunSki · 12/06/2016 09:04

The poshest family I know are Hamish, Harriet, Mungo and Archie.

I also know a very posh Richard!

dementedma · 12/06/2016 11:56

Some of the names listed as posh are actually fairly common in Scotland. Angus,Hamish,Gordon etc.
Re earlier post Bryn is a Welsh name and a boys name.

FuckYouCarol · 12/06/2016 16:41

Fabian

Seekingmiracles · 12/06/2016 17:02

My mum heard a lady in M&S calling after her son - Napoleon! Very 'toff' in my eyes!

Arborea · 12/06/2016 17:38

I don't think anyone has said Bruno yet? A good place to spot toff names is on the website of barrister's chambers, especially in London...

TheFallenMadonna · 12/06/2016 17:46

Jolyon.

SabineUndine · 12/06/2016 18:55

Gregory or Gregor
Rory/Roderick
Dominic

To be honest, the poshest names are usually not weird ones. Edward, James, Timothy.

SabineUndine · 12/06/2016 19:04

CheerfulYank Are you sure you're not getting Aubrey (boys) confused with Audrey (girls)?

ArmfulOfRoses · 12/06/2016 19:05

Both my husband's and son's names are here which I wasn't expecting!

I used to drive thorough a tiny village which is all massive Georgian type properties and one always had a table outside with a chalkboard that read "Homemade lemonade, £3:50, dilute to taste. Made by Hugo and Sebastion" and I always thought they must be posh.
No idea why, really.

CheerfulYank · 12/06/2016 19:12

No, Sabine :) Both Audrey and Aubrey are girls' names in the US.

Aubrey is not unheard of for an older man maybe but it would be on par with something like Shannon. I know 4 Aubreys under the age of ten, all girls.

SabineUndine · 12/06/2016 19:15

Odd. Mind you, Hyacinth is traditionally a boy's name.

WomanScorned · 12/06/2016 19:43

Hilary
Jocelyn
Beverley

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/06/2016 19:46

It really stresses me out that Bryn is a girls name in the US, Cheerful, I don't think there's been a Welsh female Bryn literally ever!

There's an all girls college isn't there, Bryn Mawr? Wonder if that influenced it becoming used exclusively for girls?

Joinourclub · 12/06/2016 19:47

Julian, horatio, Boris. Tobias, Xander, Francis, Benidict, Monty, jasper,

CheerfulYank · 12/06/2016 19:53

I'm not sure Ali! I was very close to being named Brynn Elizabeth. Verrryyyyy close. Which, given my married name now... :o

ethelb · 12/06/2016 20:20

They are all called Oliver round here

ALaughAMinute · 12/06/2016 20:21

Headley

WellErrr · 12/06/2016 20:22

Bryn Mawr just means Big Hill/Great Hill

Alisvolatpropiis · 12/06/2016 20:23

I know, I just meant because Bryn has become strongly associated with women due to the college that might be why it is exclusively a female name in the US.

It really annoys that a Golf Club near where I live is called Bryn Hill. Hill Hill! So stupid.

chocoLit · 12/06/2016 20:27

I have to admit I adore Herbert nn Herb Grin
