Hi, my son Jaxson was just born and we need to choose a middle name.

I like Xander and my significant other likes Phoenix.

So what do you think!? Jaxson Phoenix or Jaxson Xander??

I like Xander better than Phoenix but I think Phoenix works better because the X in Xander is too close to the X is Jaxson and it looks strange.

Personally I would ditch Jaxson and go with Xander Phoenix - both great names - but I appreciate that that doesn't answer your question.

If Jackson, I would spell it Jackson. Jaxson is made-up. Prefer Jackson Xander to Jackson Phoenix which sounds a bit too American.

I would go with Jackson (spelt like that) Xander. Jaxson is an odd spelling. While it's not made up it's a modern version of Jackson. Jackson is much better imo.

However, in answer to your question, I'd go with Phoenix as it flows better.

I would consider whether you are bothered that you, and your son, will have a life time of correcting his first name though.

Xander Phoenix is pretty awesome though... 😈 (Yes I just used an emoji... It's my first offence... Please don't tell the people on AIBU)!

I'd also spell it Jackson. Jaxson is made up and to me reeks of trying to be cool. Having said that I do love the name. If it was spelt with a K I'd go for Xander. But Phoenix sounds good too.

Why not Jaxon? Jax makes the s sound... There isn't a need for the extra s, unless you pronounse 2 s sounds. Jackson is nicer. I prefer Jaxson Phoenix though

I like them all, maybe Phoenix slightly has the edge.

Congratulations OP. I have to say I think the abundance of X's here is a bit try-hard. I've never come across Jaxson, I guess that's what you wanted to achieve, but in my book alternative spellings are pointless. If Jaxson sounds exactly the same as Jackson, then why not opt for the standard spelling and avoid your DS having to correct people for the rest of his life.

But you didn't ask that question, so I'm getting back in my box now.

Jaxson Phoenix scans a little better than Jaxson Xander, but I think both are clunky.
